Being too busy to drink beer.

    This is going on with me right now and it's just painful. I made the poor (I guess not-so-poor) decision of getting a job while going to school, while one of my classes I'm TA'ing in... so it's sort of like two jobs with a few classes added in. Seems like when I'm not working or in class, I'm helping somebody, doing homework, or studying. I'd like to be drinking beer, but I need lousy caffeinated drinks to keep me up instead.

    Speaking of which... it is Breakfast Stout season... there's caffeine in that, right?

    Anyway, do you ever find yourself too busy to enjoy beer? It's bumming me and tiring me out. Welp, back to studying.

    Yup. It just makes that next beer all the better. Gotta do what you gotta do, but its important for me to try and keep a balance - sometimes that balance won't include beer, and that ok. I still have these forums to browse through even if I don't have the time to drink some beers :wink:

    All the time! It is all about leaving time for yourself, which for me includes a nice beer. Think of it as a reward system. Ace a test, celebrate that night (or very early morning) with a beer. It is the only way to stay sane!

    I work 75+ hrs/ week plus have a family. I ALWAYS make time for beer

    Feel your pain I'm studying part time working full time and I have a family to take care of! The most free time I get is summer and winter break to feel free to drink. Had 3 beers today but I won't be free for another at least for the next 4 days.

    I can kind of understand it. That being said, I still find time to enjoy a good beer.

    I own a business, and we have a booth at our County fair. I put in, around, 100 hours at work that week. Beer is the only thing that keeps me going that week. It does help that I can drink while at the booth.

    I, sometimes, am too busy for beer. My work days are long and frankly when I get home in the evening I am too worn out to crack open a beer. I just compensate two days a week I can drink beer without the frustrations of responsibilities.

    Was in that boat for many years, even gave up beer for over 8 years while raising my children, and running a business. When you retire (I am semi retired) you can make up for lost time like I do now.

    Ah, I remember thinking I was busy in college too and especially law school

    You will laugh at/kick yourself later when you realize you weren't busy at all in comparison to real life

    I hear ya. I'm incredibly busy during the week. But the problem I have is that I'm accused of drinking too much on the weekend even though I'm still only hitting my weekly average.

    Even when in engineering school full time, working a part time job at the same time with homework, projects, etc... I had no problem finding time for a few brews in the evening. Was my way to chill for a bit.

    Too bad Hofbrahaus Cleveland wasn't open yet when I was still at CSU... It is basically right next door. That would have been bad... (Well no... AWESOME!)

    Why can't you drink a beer (or maybe two, depending on ABV) while studying? I find that drinking and serious thinking go well together. I mean, monks make beer and prayer and study and meditation are a big part of their lives, right? I really enjoy reading while drinking a nice scotch ale or porter. Or IPA or Belgian or BA stout or Oktoberfest or wild ale or...

    Same boat here - when the kids were younger and I was still on active duty there often just wasn't enough time. Now that I'm semi-retired (I work 2-4 days a week depending on the season) and the kids are grown I have a little more time to engage in "hobbies".

    I was never good with that we always used to say oh lets go to the bar and study 4 hours later I'm trashed and none the wiser :slight_frown:
