Hello guys, I am an Italian beer traveller going to California in November. I have already been there three times so I know quite well the most famous breweries around San Diego and San Francisco. What I am looking for this time are new breweries that create good and interesting products while not being so famous as Russian River, Port Brewing, The Bruery and so on. I checked last yeast medal winners of GABF but I didn't find much more than I already know. I am intested in particular in barrel aged beers, sours and brett, Belgian, not only APA/AIPA. Someone have some suggestion out of the box? Thanks
The Rare Barrel Firestone Walker Barrelworks brewLAB Sante Adairius Rustic Ales Almanac Libertine Pub (Listed in order of my personal preference. Others will surely disagree. Also, several aren't in SD or SF, so if you aren't driving...)
I to will co-sign for Rare Barrel, Barrelworks, SARA and Libertine. Toolbox Brewing is working magic as well.
As others have said: Rare Barrel Firestone Barrelworks Sante Adarius And I'd add: Highland Park Brewing Monkish Brewing Beachwood BBQ Cellarmaker Modern Times
Highland Park Brewery, Beachwood, Phantom Carriage, Monkish and Smog City are a must. Damn, the LA beer scene is so good right now. #blessed
Thanks to all for kind suggestions. Yes, I will drive so I could reach breweries in LA area that I do not know very well. I am planning to stay in Central-South California and not very very far from the coast so I am going to check the check the breweries you recommended. Cheers!
