Could it be that maybe you don't really like hoppy ales -- maybe not your favorite style of beer? Respect your opinion given the massive # of beers you've reviewed -- but there are very few beers brewed in Portland/Bend/Seattle that have the character of Trill or HF ales. Blue Dot/hop venom/tricerahops/RPM....these are great beers -- but nothing like the NE flavor profile. Not basically the same at all.

Might just be me, but from what I've picked up on West Coast tends to be more piney, while NE tends to be more orange-like.
That being said IPA is not my favorite style, but I do enjoy a good Citra hop beer, have had HF's citra and loved it, have drank my fare share of Otter Creek's Citra Mantra, and even with West Coast IPA's that are citrus leaning, they tend to be more grapefruit in nature as opposed to orange.

But that's just me, I am rather limited in experience when it comes to IPAs, as I typically am not wild about them.

Yeah your won't be disappointed. Their entire board/lineup is just awesome. It's sometimes hard to pick a beer. They usually have at least 1or 2 double ipa's that are part of their "dank" series, as well as multiple ipa's, pale ales, coffee stouts, and if you're lucky they may have bourbon barrel vastness of Space or bourbon barrel imp coffee & cigarettes.

But if you're going in two weeks then maybe not. Try around December/January. Their stouts are great.

Watch out. These dudes are crushing it with the hazy hop saturated things.

Went to Trillium at lunch today and picked up a mixed 12 pack of Vicinity, Pier, FPPA, and Congress St. Just finished this FPPA -- just an incredible beer -- the juiciness and tropical/citrus character is just so f'n unique. The NE style has the dangerous attribute of being thirst quenching in a way -- you literally keep picking up the 7-9% beer and think it's 7am and you are sucking down an OJ before work-- but then you wake up after a couple of 25's at 10pm and the Sox are down 3 in the 8th. For all the deniers out there -- try a trillium hoppy ale -- pick any one you want -- you will be converted. Get into the opaqueness.....

I haven't; I would certainly be interested in trying them, though. I have been able to try several of the "NE IPAs" mentioned in this thread, although I don't believe they're quite as special as some make them out to be. I haven't had much of a chance to try a lot of more local West Coast beers, unfortunately, but I'm working on planning a road trip to hit some breweries and see the sights all along the west coast, Pacific Northwest, and northern plains states.

Unfair advantage. Named after Trillium's restaurant neighbor R34 -- Vicinity's Citra/Galaxy hop bill creates an almost absurd tropical juiciness. Color not quit as opaque as Congress St and various FPPA varieties.....the ying to HF's 2Xcitra yang. An amazing Beer and a great representative of the new....New England IPA style.

That sounds pretty close to good ol' Trop. I love the Citra/Galaxy combo and Tropicalia combines it with glorious Centennial to form the tastiest true IPA I've tried.

No one outside of the NE is making beers like this. No one. This here Nelson/Galaxy pale ale from Fate Brewing in Arizona is just a figment of your imagination. A figment.

Peep my review! I actually compare it to a smaller version of Congress Street (which is Galaxy for the aroma/finishing hops, as I understand it). I actually felt similar about both -- totally nice, great nose, but a touch astringent. That's my qualm with the NE/VT style -- at times, all that haze seems to contribute an astringency that kinda grates on you the more you go. That said, when they're done well (like FPPA!) they're rich/saturated in hop flavor and aroma but finish smooth and with clean (rather than astringent) bitterness.

At some point, I'm gonna have to hit you up, Chip, for some more Trillium samples. For science!

Am I the only one that thinks Trillium is severely overrated? Not trying to troll at all I've just yet to like anything outside of Artaic

NE makes great IPAs, as does Ohio, Mn, Ca, Ma, Me, Nc, they're everywhere.
