Been out a few times over the last couple of weeks, and have seen Be Hoppy on draft in 3 different places, only one I expected, the others a surprise, in SE Mass.

@GonzoHomebrewer - I can see where you may think that, but think of it this way. We have the opportunity to get into a place and show our brand to thousands and thousands of people every home game. It's a great way to get our name out there. We are starting to get bottles out more often and with how often we bottle as opposed to keg, giving Gillette their share isn't changing how often we would bottle. We are still a small facility and getting into a place like Gillette is a great opportunity for us. Look, I'm just a guy that runs a taproom at the brewery. Business decisions like that are way over my head. My answer may not be what you want to hear, it may not even be what one of the owners would say. But that's just how I see it. I'm sure not being able to find us on the shelves all the time stinks. I get that. But we are doing what we can. This may not fully answer your question and if not, I'm sorry. But it is the best I've got for you.

So entitlement now consists of being critical of a brewery's business decision on a forum dedicated to discussing breweries? Where did I mention myself in my comment? I didn't, I referenced people who have been supporting since the beginning, which I haven't considering I don't even live in the Worcester area.

Plenty of other breweries operate with local supporters in mind first, this isn't a strange concept. Providing beer to Gillette just exacerbates the current problem of the beer not being on the shelf. Yes, they may expose the brand to people who haven't heard of it before, but again, just makes the current supply issue worse, does it not?

How is it going to generate more revenue at Gillette? The people who buy this at Gillette won't be able to buy stuff off the shelf and Gillette isn't paying more than any other bar would for a keg. And they've already stated it was so little an amount that it wouldn't effect packaging and you would think bottles/cans have higher margins for a brewery than kegs, so that argument seems null. This just seems to be stretching the product supply even more so just so they can say they were poured at Gillette.

@Afrech1 I understand you're not directly involved in decision making and sorry if the post came off hostile to you directly, I was hoping to just convey the passion I've heard from others in hopes maybe you'd let the powers that be know how some of the long-time Wormtown supporters I know feel.

I for one will be happy to enjoy a $12 22oz Wormtown at Gillette while watching the Pats this season.

Be Hoppy has been pretty plentiful on draft in Central Mass as of late, I don't think sending a few kegs to Gillette is going to have a huge impact on availability. I would assume if anything it would reduce kegs to draft accounts that are not selling a ton and the bottle/can production would not be impacted.

I don't think selling at Gillette hurts the customers who have been supporting them since the beginning. The taproom is a lively scene and lots of local supporters are still able to regularly able to get Be Hoppy at the brewery and in the surrounding area. Even in 6 pack of bottles now.

The beer is available on the shelf in metrowest and worcester area and is always at the brewery. Be Hoppy also has a far reach on draft in the boston area and burbs.

I think it is great a local brewer is available at Gillette. At the end of the day, it is kegs/bottles for 8 days out of 365 - probably not enough beer to put a dent in distro.

Full row of Be Hoppy cans at Wegmans in Northboro, well it was a full row before I grabbed 4.

Can someone fill me in as to what the scene at the brewery/taproom is? Can you get growler fills? Are bottles typically available for take home? Or is it more just a place to chill and drink some drafts?

Was there on Saturday. It's all of the above. I think they only had 6-packs of Be Hoppy and their pale ale, both of which are great. But they have growlers available on 10+ beers and the same number of taps. Only the rauchbier and Be Hoppiest were growler only. Order a pizza from next door and hang out. We had a great time there, although parking was annoying since the lot next door was full. Took a few circles.

I don't think I am at liberty to say how much is going, but that area should be getting a decent shipment.

    No Norm this year. :slight_frown:

I'm happy (hoppy?) that Wormtown has had so much success with Be Hoppy but am saddened that it has sucked so much air out of the room for beers in other parts of the spectrum. Here's hoping for next year.

Sperry's is charging $3.95 per bottle of Be Hoppy, I assume that will sit for awhile since it can be had for under $12 a six pack most places. Ridiculous.
