Happy Autumnal Equinox - fall "arrived" at 4:21 am est today....my favorite season!

Found this guy lurking in my cellar - bit old and I think the beer is "retired" - still flavorful and seemed appropriate for today! Local (Cleveland) Indigo Imp - Autumn Ale - brewed with sweet potatoes!

Enjoy your "hump day" and the first day of fall, beer peeps!

Good morning BAs! Another 600+ apples moved to the garden before the yellowjackets got too active - so far no stings! Today's breakfast is an excellent DIPA - Lupulin River from Knee Deep. I've never see Heady except on here, but I'm betting this is at least as good if not better:

This is over two months old (7/15/15) - it must be amazing fresh! Looks like I'm going to have to make a beer run to CA!

I think Indigo Imp is an undiscovered treasure in Cleveland - are they still doing their open coolship brewing?

Yes, yes it was amazing fresh. And you only need to come one state over, we get Knee Deep here in NY. Better than Heady though? Hmmmm.

    look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5

    Served in a Tulip glass.

Appearance : Lightly shaded golden straw colored, about 50% opaque. The head starts out at 2 fingers and then gradually recedes to 1, and then a thick ring that stays forever. Sparse lacing is left on the sides.

Smell : Quite a lot of hop going on here, with pale malts, hay, and straw. A faint apple note, as well. Medium volume bouquet.

Taste : Very pale ale-like, and very Czech Pilsner-like. Lots of hop, lots of straw, lots of paste. Behind those notes are presences of yeast and cracker malts, and very very faint apple skin. It ends on straw and hop.

Feel : Very intensely carbonated, with a slight pasty dry finish. Light bodied, very light creaminess. For a Saison it's a pretty spot-on feel when drinkability is judged.

Overall : Not what I look for in a Saison. It's quenchable, for sure, but it's like a cross between the Farmhouse, the Czech Pilsner, and the American Pale Ale. Just kind of an odd duck (puck?). I bought two, I'll probably drink the other one on some hot day when I need some light quenchability.

Okay, I admit it. I tried some of this on my Honey Nut Cheerios this morning. My findings: Half & Half tastes much better on cereal. Sometimes you gotta listen to your inner idiot. Then you pick up the rest of your fingers and move on. #JasonPierre-Paul
