So my in-laws are in WI this week and next. I believe they will spend time in both Madison and Milwaukee. Since they are driving, they offered to bring me back some WI beer. I'm only asking them to bring a small amount, so my initial thought is to have them grab some New Glarus Scream and a bottle of Belgian Red. How available are these two beers at the larger liquor stores? Anything else that is relatively easy to procure and worth bringing back? Thanks for the help.

Ditto above. Woodman's, Steve's, Riley's, etc all carry both in Madison. You could get cases of both. I'd recommend trying Fantasy Factory from Karben4 if they're in Madison (maybe in Milwaukee too).

Thanks. Is Scream the only seasonal/special release out right now? Anything else from NG that's worth seeking out?

Might still see the Berliner Weisse from New Glarus on the shelves, that is worth grabbing for sure. Also, Central Waters Bourbon barrel scotch ale came out a few weeks ago - might still be around, and that is tasting awesome (had one a few nights ago).

Good point. I've had quite a few and never been disappointed. Was just thinking of anything that was particularly fresh or unique. Scream and Belgian Red both fit the bill.

(glancing at their schedule of beers and what's out now)

I like their Apple Ale quite a bit - that should still be around. The other 750's (Raspberry Tart, Seredipity) are always good too

People other than me like Pumpkin Pie Lust a lot.

Have them pick up Scream in Madison (reportedly fresher) and as close to the end of their trip as practical.

And I second the recommendation of Central Waters' BB Scotch Ale – very good stuff.

Sorry, that last comment (fresh and unique) was meant more broadly to what's out now in WI, not just NG. Thanks for the tips.

    Ah, ok

Karbon4 Fantasy Factory or Idiot Farm
CC BB products (probably only find Scotch Ale)
    Black Husky

Thanks. Is the Central Waters BB Scotch Ale in 4/6 packs or bomber format? Price? Just trying to set expectations before I send them on a mission. Thanks again for the help.

You can also score Toppling Goliath in both of those towns.

I second the Fantasy Factory, Scream, and any Black Husky (Pale Ale, Sproose) bombers. Pumpkin Pie lust, Belgium Red, Moon Man, and Apple Ale are all nice offerings from NG too.

Are TG's IPAs available in bottles? Thought those were hard to get. Thanks for the tips.

I had no issue finding 4pks of sue in both Madison and Milwaukee the last few times I've been up there. Just make sure you are going to stores they distro too.

Not sure how much you want to overburden these mules with details--but I'd have them check dates on Scream, a lot of it on shelves right now is old. As someone mentioned above, new Scream is coming out soon (may be out already?).

Second the recos for: Fantasy Factory, Black Husky stuff, any NG fruit bombers. Also NG Staghorn is very good. CW Scotch Ale is sort of around, but has sold out in many places. It's around $14 per fourper. (Yes I just invented the word "fourper" TM. Surly stuff is all over now too.

So if they popped into Woodman's in Madison with the following list of potentials they should be OK to find a few of them:

New Glarus Scream IPA - 4-packs of bottles (check date on bottle)
New Glarus Belgian Red or Serendipity (big bottles)
Central Waters Brewers Reserve Scotch Ale - 4-packs of bottles
Surly Furious or Bender - 4-packs (I think) of cans
Toppling Goliath PsuedoSue - 6-packs of bottles

I was in Woodmans' in Madison 2 fridays' ago - they were out of PseudoSue, but had plenty of Rover Truck. I'd add that as a suitable backup. Kid at the counter told me PseudoSue goes pretty fast when it comes in.

If they are anything like my in-laws, this list will end up getting them locked in the store after it closes.
