Not sure. It was served at the 2nd Anniversary party. It just said "double barrel"

I think it was just the base beer DOS though

Thank you.. And I've been lucky enough to be in town for a few releases. He does the releases right in my opinion

I didn't see any double barrel at the anniversary party though &+ is 2/3 rum barrel and 1/3 bourbon barrel.

agreed. it's the fairest and smartest way for him to do it, business-wise.

Haha, whoops, I meant Peg's Barrel Aged Day this year. That's where the Double Barrel was.

he does so many tap-only variants that it can be hard to keep up.

Yeah, that's just a blend though, not a true double barrel aging.

So you are saying beers labeled as "double barrel" are aged in series (first aged in one barrel then racked into another barrel for more aging) as opposed to parallel (same beer aging in different barrels at the same time then blended). I was not aware of this.

I would hope that a beer that is 'double barrel aged' would be aged 100% in both barrels.

Yes, this is correct. True double barrel is when the whole batch sees both barrels together. So yeah, in series. Parallel leads to blending.

Double Barrel Hunahpu is a blend. Approximately half aged in rum barrels and half aged in apple brandy barrels.

I mean, I guess there really isn't a description that rolls off the tongue better than just saying its double barrel aged but it's still a blend. Yes, the beer saw 2 different barrels but I still think calling it double barrel is a little misleading.

Wasn't Friday a Double Barrel variant?

This is the way the term was originally used and should have been used. Double Barrel Damon is an example of a beer that uses the term correctly. Cigar City and then Westbrook messed it up by using it to refer to blends from a couple of different barrels. The joke is that if "Double Barrel Hunahpu" can be referred to as such by being a blend of two barrel types, Firestone Walker should refer to their Anniversary series beers as Septuple Barrel Ales or something like that.

It's just a blend of various barrels. Pallet 2 is also not "triple barrel aged." It's a blend of 3 barrels.

I hope we can continue discussing semantics for pages to come.

I hadn't recalled that there was something labeled "Double Barrel" at Peg's, i.e., signifying true full-aging in the unbastardized Sean Hill way of things. I bet it was damn good. Unlike that piece of shit faux double barrel Hunahpu.

No one called any of the beers shit. Figured I'd drop my shitty knowledge and move on. Cycle and CCB's BA Stouts rule. That's all that matters.

    Wasn't Friday "just" a blend of M-Th?
