Tonight I will be chasing kids--beer in hands, but at home. May hit up Hitchhiker or Korner Pub tomorrow.

I'll be out of commission tomorrow. How is the Korner Pub? Have never been, but pass by it often.

I could probably be convinced to go to Roundabout tonight. Though the old lady and I are seeing Green Inferno tonight

Let me know if you end up going for a beer and what time. Just read that Roundabout's BA stout is only 6.8%. Is any barrel presence detectable in this?

I don't know if I could stomach The Green Inferno. I read that it makes most horror movies seem like Finding Nemo in regards to how brutal it is.

Have been there several times and like the place. They often have good offerings (especially as compared to other South Hills venues), but I notice they sit too long at times. Loathe the term "hipster," but don't think another word would more easily describes the inherent vibe of the place. Divey doesn't cover it. Usually filled with a bunch of 20/30-something locals who enjoy good beer and then a few dudes slamming Coca-Cola and/or High Life.

I'm told it was a bar in a former life (though I don't know if this was a continuous thing)--looks like two young guys decided to buy it, throw their hearts into the spirit of the place/tap list and then 100 bucks on remodeling and--bam, open their doors. Music fluctuates between awful and awesome.

EDIT: Modest bottle selection with unsurprising prices and half off happy hour, the latter which makes it a nice stop after work.

I'm not usually a fan of action movies, but both Raids were just a stupid amount of fun to watch. Fight choreography was sick.

And bottle share in Swissvale tonight? Anyone?

I kind of hate Eli Roth.

Bottle share in Swissvale with Beerfest playing on a loop in the background...?

Cool. The only local places I really go to are Brew Brothers and The Saloon, as I usually just drive the extra 10 minutes it takes to get to Shadyside, Southside, etc. I'll have to check out the Korner Pub the next time I'm looking for a drink in the South Hills. Sounds like a cool place.

And yeah, it was definitely a neighborhood dive bar in a former life. Kind of like that Kopy's place in Southside.

For sure. The fight scenes were so brutal but jaw dropping to watch. The main guy was like a human special effect.

Can't do a bottle share tonight, but I might be down for having a few beers somewhere.

Festbier sort of bends the style parameters a bit, but I look forward to that every year. I had Roundabout's last year, and was also impressed. I look forward to seeing if they have that - along with the pumpkin coffee stout - on tap when I am back in the 'Burgh in October.

    I love Oktoberfest beer season!

Each year I look forward to pumpkin beers a little less & Oktoberfests a little more.

I remember fatheads being on the paler side last year but still good, which isn't a surprise cause everything they make is good. I'm definitely feeling the darker Oktoberfests this year though.

Anybody happen to have any bottles of blacknote they wouldn't mind trading? Been trying to get a hold of a few foe a wedding next weekend without giving up rare whale dongs. If anyone could possibly help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, not sure a bottle share tonight is really the best idea for me either. Mostly just reflexively threw it out there.

    Fantastic, I agree.

Also - there's a Bell's tasting tonight at (I think) Hal's, with Mango Habanero Oberon.

Haven't been to The Saloon in years; in my experience Cain's has had a better tap list (thought their pricing is all over the place)--do you feel this is not true anymore? Cain's does have that deeply ingrained Yinzery vibe, but I'm usually there for brunch.

If you're getting from The Saloon to Shadyside in ten minutes, please send me the coordinates for the wormhole (insert "just kiddin' around with you" emoticon here).
