prospect heights beer works sold out.

I'm not sure who that helps or hurts.

this has turned into a solid example of "what do you hate about craft beer" thread suddenly.

I guess I just feel like the only reason I know about Grimm is because people in this thread took the time to talk about it, rather than saying "Wow this stuff is great, I better not tell anyone."

A very valid point and also a double-edged sword it would seem.

Finding this beer was a pretty big pain but kind of interesting to see the hype play out. I was fortunate enough to be pretty mobile in downtown and pick up a few cans.

Westside market on 3rd had 2 packs for sale behind the counter. Not sure if they are still there. It seems most of the places only received one case when they had ordered multiple.

As a customer, I think I much prefer brewery releases like OH (even though they can be a pain as well) to this distribution method. Hopefully a brewery is coming soon!

Crazy stuff when people searching high and low for a IPA that has a TWO can limit! It's not like a BA stout with short supply.

Can't wait for this year's GI bourbon county releases. That should be fun. :grinning:

One thing I will add to the "revealing the locations" debate is while many want to help other BAs, there are probably many lurkers on here who never post anything at all and are not contributing to the community who get great information from these threads but don't give back. For every one BA who posts here and benefits there could be 20 who are invisible but are reading these threads and scooping up the beer.

i agreed at first, then tried it and quickly realized it was worth it. best IPA to come out of NYC (well, psuedo-nyc i guess) IMO, and thats saying something given OH, singlecut, threes etc...

Exactly my point. Great to help out BA buddies, but net effect is negative IMO

Well, it seems that up to 50 members can partake in a private message/conversation. So that is one way to get around those lurkers and could have a place to share where it was distributed without the entire community know. But this may devalue what is essential to this community.

I would have loved this too! Maybe even a van/truck sale like the Alchemist.

All you've gotta do is watch the trade forums after OH posts an update about their next can release...

Yep, I was about to say same thing. Unbelievable amount of info in there that people benefit from but they never set foot in the thread. It's a two way street, you get you need to give.

You guys could be right but I would guess it's the other way around. IMO a good majority on here are sharing info and helping each other, not lurking on BA for info. And as others have said, those people can get that info on other social media sites anyway.

And for every guy who scores a beer (from lurking) and posts it on the trade forum, there are 9 guys at home who picked up a couple of cans and are enjoying that beer themselves or with friends.

Edit: you changed your post on me @jrnyc :flushed:

Any fisherman on here? There are holy war debates about people and their spots. People work hard on finding the spots, sometimes going out every night to find the fish. Then someone posts the spot on the internet and the place is overrun with people who don't put the time in and didn't do the work ruining it for the guy who did all of the hard work.

I see some of the points on both sides here. Don't underestimate the power of the lurkers. @Todd posted in another thread once how many lurkers there are out there compared to posters, the ratio was high, not exactly sure on numbers.

When you look at the thread listings for the Mid-Atlantic, you can get a quick sense of this thread:

I'm sure that is not unique views, meaning that when I come into this thread to see updates, I keep getting counted. But that is a HUGE amount of views.
