Believe it or not Virginia’s Farm Brewery is turning two. It’s hard to comprehend everything that has happened over the past two years and how quickly time has gone by.

To celebrate the occasion we are going to have our largest and most prolific bottle release party in our two year history. Brace thyselves for four (yup, that’s right four) brand new LCCB beers.

First off, we are fortunate to share the exact same opening date as Three Notch’d Brewing Co. based out of Charlottesville, Virginia. Three Notch’d is a fantastic, award-winning brewery that is known for it’s quaffable and fresh IPAs. Not only do we share the same opening date there is also a very cool geographic location where Three Notch’d Road and Lickinghole Creek meet. What’s even cooler is that it’s a blueberry farm where you can get fresh spring water straight from the source.

    The Source
    Thee Notch’d & LCCB Collaboration
    Blueberry India Pale Ale
    7.5% ABV, Original Gravity 1.071

    2,000 Bottles Produced
    1 Case Limit per Customer

60 miles west of the LCCB Farm, nestled on a hillside in Jarman’s Gap in Crozet, VA, lies the springhouse for Lickinghole Creek. Winding through the valley just below is the historic Three Notch’d Road. Deer, bears and coyotes share this land as they endulge in wild blueberries, blackberries, and low hanging apples, then washed down by the sweet waters of Lickinghole Creek.

As LCCB and Three Notch’d Brewing Co. share the same Grand Opening Date of Sept 28th, 2013, it seemed destiny for us to brew a special anniversary beer together. We present to you, “The Source” Blueberry IPA, brewed with blueberries picked straight from The Source.

The Source will be distributed throughout Virginia.

Next up is a beer we’ve been chomping at the bit to make since we opened – Chocolate Decadence Imperial Stout. This is the same base beer as Heir Apparent and Supreme Leader, but with a gigantic chocolate boost.

    Chocolate Decadence
    Imperial Chocolate Stout
    11.5% ABV, 60 IBU, 1.101 Original Gravity
“Live Large or Not at All
    Only 500 Bottles Available
    2 Bottle Limit per Customer

Chocolate Decadence Imperial Stout is the combination of hundreds of pounds of chocolate malts from all over the world, and ridiculous amounts of South American grown cocoa nibs. Decadence is defined as “unrestrained or excessive self-indulgence”. Chocolate Decadence Imperial Stout is the liquid embodiment of this sentiment. Live Large or Not at All.

    Now the Variants:

    Coffee Decadence
    Imperial Chocolate Stout
    11.5% ABV, 60 IBU, 1.101 Original Gravity
“Wake Up to the New Decadence”

    Only 500 Bottles Available
    2 Bottle Limit per Customer

    Raspberry & Coffe Decadence
    Imperial Chocolate Stout
    11.5% ABV 60 IBU, 1.101 Original Gravity
“Who Knew Decadence Tasted so Good?”

    Only 500 Bottles Available
    2 Bottle Limit per Customer

huh? could have sworn Three Notch'd was open like 4-5 years ago... did they move and this is in reference to a newer location in C'ville that is only 2 years old?

The Source doesn't sound that appealing to me, but Lickinghole has brewed some of the best beers I have ever had. I'd love to go to this event and work through that tap list, but won't be able to.

Not entirely accurate but pretty close. Pretty sure 3NB opened end of August 2013 although their official opening may not have been until Oct?? The H'Burg taproom opened Spring 2014

hmmm, looking at the map they are downtown.
I swear I had a porter of theirs (I guess it could have been someone else...) at some little nano sized place over by the airport in the NW side of the city before 2013 but according to any directory listing of C'ville breweries there's nothing over on that side of town (anymore)

You may be thinking of Beer Hound? They were a few miles up from the airport on the right side of Rt29 in strip mall looking row of buildings before opening their new location in Culpeper last Fall.

Is this event rain or shine? Any chance it could get postponed until the next weekend? It's going to rain cats and dogs this week likely into the weekend.

What's the turnout like for their releases? We just moved to the area, and this will be the first one I will make it to. I did the Ruse release at Hardywood, and that had a sizeable turnout. Wondering how early I should show up...

I think all of this should have stayed on their facebook page.

What if every brewery decided to use these fora as such a blatant advertising vehicle?

I do not think OP is affiliated with LCCB. Just passing along the information as it is allowed in the local forums as well as the events section of BA.

I have been to a few LCCB releases and it's really up in the air. It is their 2nd Anniversary so under good weather would be pretty popular, especially so since they are releasing 4 bottles. I don't think they have released that many at one time before. Chances are weather is going to be horrible so it may keep people away that may otherwise show up. The last release I was at was Coconut Delight which also had a 500 bottle limit and those last probably until 3 or 4 pm and weather was perfect that day.

I don't think there would be many people there in great weather, this weekend I would expect a very small turnout. I'd say show up whenever you want. Be prepared for lots of MUD too, walking and driving through it.

with the potential hurricane landfall (or, if that doesn't happen the 10+ inches of rain to land instead) this weekend in NC/VA, I'm staying far away from the mud-field known as Lickinghole Creek.
(anyone remember the madness of trying to leave Enlightened Despot? mud as far as the eye can see and those 2 little tractors were having a hard-time even helping 4x4s get out!)

I think even is the weather was nice this weekend that other releases going on in RVA would take some of the traffic away from LCCB. Hardywood is releasing their Rum Pumpkin, which I hear a lot of people really want to get, along with Strangeways releasing a variant of their Gourd of Thunder on Saturday and with additional variants there the next 2 weekends after this one. News is calling for 5+ inches of rain between now until Monday so it's definitely going to be interesting as to who shows. At least the rained had stopped for Despot Day, @ncaudle and it was a mess. I'm counting on constant hard rains all weekend. so the mess will be much much worse.

I'm planning on hitting licking hole Saturday. I would rather have mud & rain than a long line to wait in.
