Awesome video. Love or hate their beer, they deserve a tremendous amount of respect for what they have done and who they are. I love Yuengling and wish it were sold here in Missouri. If they were, I can guarantee there would be a regular spot in my fridge for their beers.

Nice piece, interesting look inside. Sounds like the new guard has plans and direction that aren't so popular with the old man. He's set in his ways, hopefully either he will let them try some hop focused beers or he will step aside and they will do it on their own. Nothing wrong with being flexible, and the daughter says it perfectly...it's what the consumers want.

Thanks for posting this OP! Yuengling is the first beer that made me want to try more flavorful beers, and will always be high up in my favorites for that reason. I've always admired the way Dick Yuengling ran his business and his frugal nature.

Being the son of an entrepreneur and working with my sister and father in the company he built, this really resonates with me. Cheers!

Indeed. As far as I remember, I think Yuengling is going to be offering that IPL they mentioned in the video this fall/winter. I'm excited for it.

That is my understanding as well; I have read it will be branded as Winter Lager and it will be an IPL style.

I suppose we will have to wait and see how hoppy this beer will be. Dick has already expressed his opinion that he does not want to produce an 'overly hoppy' beer. My read of the daughter's face was this was not exactly the idea she had in mind. Maybe they will reach a compromise where the Winter Lager will be 'medium' hoppy?

    Life is frequently a negotiation.

    Cheers!

It wouldn't be the first time an older generation was out of touch with a younger one. The daughter is spot on.

I have to respect Dick's position, right or wrong. He knows what he knows and his company has exploded doing what he's always done. His daughters can make unilateral decisions when he drops dead. There ain't nothing wrong with that.

That was my 'take away' from that video as well. I thought he might make mention of a 'graceful' transition whereby he would maybe only work half-weeks but based upon that video he seems to be an all or nothing type of guy; and I personally get that.

Maybe now would be a good time for the daughters to create an 'idea jar' so that when it does come time for a change of leadership they have some formulated ideas and concepts in mind?

    Cheers!

Really does show the classic generational differences, if anything I think having more women and that perspective is going to be actually an asset.

Gain some respect for Yuengling for sure. I am less than an hour away. Think its time for a tour.

I really enjoyed the video too, glad everyone else did as well. I do hope I get out that way soon just to take a tour and meet that family, and sample the beers of course:grinning: . Pretty cool, five generations! That shot of Dick in his office with the paintings of his grand father and great grandfather(?) is amazing, what a legacy. Hope they go another five generations.
