Sounds like a Donald Trump policy answer : )

I would be an AMAZING president! Everyone else is an unqualified moron. Trust me.

Not trying to be a C word here, but the proper explanation to your query requires more effort than I think it deserves. Let me put it to you this way. Brew_Betty can buy whatever she wants, already has kegs and various accessories, but still finds a place for bottling certain types of beer.

    There ya go.

Even Trump doesn't post in the 3rd person : ) Cheers

Yes he does and believe it or not, my real name isn't Brew_Betty. Therefore, the previous statement was made in the figurative fourth person and specifically not the third person. There is currently insufficient data pertaining to the psychoanalysis of people who speak in the figurative fourth person, so don't even try!

Would have been easier to answer the original question, me thinks : )

Perhaps, but this route was more fun.

I do the same, but I also mark the last two bottles because they are more likely to have some dregs. So my 'QC' is double yours and I get to drink twice the amount in the name of insuring that the beer is the right 'quality.'

    OP's contention is utter nonsense.
PET bottles aren't to blame for poor carbonation.

Why ... b/c some of my PETs have been in continuous rotation since 2006.
Any carbonation issues have always been related to the caps.
PET caps last for many years but not forever the way the bottles do.

Pathetic loser @inchrisin says I'm all about name-calling. Then what was he doing in my office begging me for my sour porter recipe? Very sad!

Ok. Maybe my thread tittle was not the right way to start this. But im just telling my experience. Theres too much coincidence with this bottles tbh. And i dont blame the bottle but the caps might not be the best. And not all caps, i was talking about the brewdemon bottle caps. They didnt work as i though.
Mothergoose i did what you said, about gently mix the priming solution from bottom to top, you gave me thay advice in a previous post and thats what i did.
I only had 5 330ml glass bottles and 1 500ml. The rest were all pet bottles, 9 total. And of those 9, 5 of 6 so far had the same problem with carbonation, but not the glass bottles.
Again, it was my mistake to blame the bottle cos the bottle is not the issue but the caps might be the problem in my case.

Herb tx for pointing the cap issue, youre right about that.
And tx for the marking bottles tip. Ill do that next time to have a better evaluation of the carbonation overall.

PET bottle caps need to lock tight with a tiny amount of travel (< 1/4 turn).

As the caps age ... they begin to travel more.
After while ... you get a feel for the ones ready for retirement.

Yeah, I use plastic bottles all the time. Coke bottles, 2L soda bottles, etc. Never had a single problem. I know they aren't pretty, but they are un-explodable and droppable. They are also a good way to tell the amount of carbonation in your batch.

I'm trying this for the first time as we speak. I got some seltzer bottles and used them to empty a keg. One sitting in the fridge. One in a closet. Open them in a couple weeks.

Been re-using coke, mountain dew, etc. bottles for 8 batches and counting, with not even a single failure. Hundreds of data points.

A bit inconvenient trying to keep clear bo4ttles sheltered from light is about all.
(Root beer comes in amber bottles, so that is one route to get "free" amber bottles. If you like root beer.)

I've been re-using the same PET bottles for 25 years with no problem at all. When I fill them, I squeeze them until there's no airspace at all, then I cap them and let the bottle fermentation do it's work. You must be doing something wrong - you definitely can't blame the PET bottles, as from very long experience, they are very reliable. Once in a while you might need to replace the caps, but they should last for at least a dozen times.

I use PET bottles when packaging growlers with my ball lock carb cap. I have ruined a few by not paying attention to minimum torque and using excessive psi (usually when I've had too many beers ) Btw, I've learned to have a few extra gaskets on hand after sending a few into orbit. The threads on the PET growler are softer but safer than glass. Cheers, all.

I said it in a a post like 2 months ago or more. The title i used for this topic was not right, i made a mistake by saying not to reuse the pet bottles by a mistake i made, i trusted in the integrity of my caps and didnt check them, lost half of my batch cos of it. Im still using my PET bottles but now i check my caps everytime. Sorry again. Cheers
