I had to do that too - and I want to forget what I just learned.

Haha...someone started a thread about FOMO in the main forum a few months ago and, of course, I was like...what the fuck does that mean?

You're right - and that's cool if people are into that but it's not for me. I'll be at Barrier tomorrow getting a bunch of growlers filled, some flights and something from the food truck. and the popcorn machine for the kid. I'm all into the local scene in NY but as we have seen with OH - the hype has led things to get out of hand really fast. And these threads all adds to it.

I'm not trying to stress the point "I'm old" or that I'm trying to name drop beers, just saying...this is the nature of the beast now. I think anyone who posts as a regular here, and yes, @ecpho knows his shit, should realize its a crazed culture now. It sucks, but, as Steve Winwood once said "that's just the way it is."

It's like that everywhere. Not just in New York. Might be worse in other places, actually.

There is, pretty much, a *local brewery is killing it* thread in every regional sub-forum on this site.

People waited in line for 7 hours at Russian River for Beatification. Supplication which is higher rated can be had regularly with a 5 minute line. How does this make any sense? Scarcity marketing at its best.

Beatification craps all over Supplication, I don't care what the "ratings" say

That's called FOLUS: Fear of Learning Useless Shit.

Actually, doesn't matter the release at La Cumbre, Bosque, or Marble, no crazy lines, no one missing out, no crazy scramble. A major perk of the New Mexico scene.

Craftsman had it, didn't last long. HT also got a small shipment today that's already gone.

While the scarcity sucks, I'm glad it's flying off the shelves since we will see more canned IPAs from Grimm. Their concern about their IPAs sitting around getting stale doesn't seem to be an issue in the least.

Hopefully, in the future, they move into their own space and these releases are more like OH.

maybe @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales would indulge us so much as to share some timetable for the new space plans and when we can expect to be shotgunning Grimm IPA on the regular!

What stores in CT received it? CT has never had Grimm on the shelf, to my knowledge.

Grimm stated 60 cases for NY state and 133 cases for NYC....no mention of any other states.

Some people may not understand just how expensive a beer like Afterimage is to brew. The hop costs alone are huge. We make pennies on the dollar, and then the distributor and retailer need to take their cut also. This beer actually has the thinnest margin of any beer we've ever produced. We're selling through distribution but we've worked to get our price down so that it's comparable with breweries who sell direct.

We haven't found a space yet so there's no timetable.

Cans were sold in NY only.

To anyone who says "scarcity marketing!" -- just, no. Our IPA's have always been 30bbl batches. This was a 60bbl batch, so we doubled our production. It's really just because of the Paste article IMO. We're going to keep releasing these monthly and I'm sure the mania will die down a bit.

    Thanks for responding!

Mania dying down, no way, next release of this stuff will be even more hyped, good for you guys! And doesn't sound like you are intentionally using scarcity marketing, but the combination of a great beer with limited production has the scarcity marketing built right in.

I wasn't commenting so much on your beer specifically in price, more so the craziness that is craft beer now where people going nuts over 1 or 2 can limits for 5,6,7 bucks.

I too mentioned price but I didn't mean that they were overpriced, just it seemed absurd to me to search around the city for a can or 2. I'm sure as a small gypsy brewer set up there are costs beyond their control and as they get bigger, get their own space, buy larger quantities hops/malt, etc - prices might settle out.
