So, Spencer is planning on releasing a Holiday Ale (Belgian Strong Ale - appears to be a dark strong) and an RIS. Not a whole lot of information in this article, but should be interesting. Anybody heard anything else about this? http://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyl...ds-its-line/r2vRU9BSjhbnzmUnzcHPSI/story.html
Idk anything about it but ive seen bottles in my local store that say Spencer Trappist on them for around $4.50 a 12oz bottle
Well, they released the Spencer Trappist Ale, a patersbier or Belgian Blonde Ale a year or two ago. It is quite good and definitely a good representation of the style. But it is expensive. Like the article says, it goes for $16-19 per four pack.
The original Spencer Trappist Ale came out in 2014 and has been the sole beer they sell; they now plan to expand their line with a Belgian Strong Ale for the holidays and then a RIS next year.... from the article; "After talking to retailers, Spencer has decided to expand its product line. In addition to the abbey ale, the brewery will release Spencer Trappist Holiday Ale in November. Trappist Russian Imperial Stout will follow early next year. "
This is interesting the Trappist breweries that helped them get started recommended brewing only one kind of beer for the first 5 years. Guess they decided to trim a few years off that suggestion. http://www.nydailynews.com/life-sty...start-selling-trappist-beer-article-1.1581923
Two months ago the price dropped and now you can find it for around $13.99 a 4pk when before it was $18.99 a 4pk. Very excited that they are starting to release new beer styles. I just might have to do a proper Trappist Lent this coming year and do a beer fast.
Glad to see this. Their Trappist Ale is worth a try (though pricey), and expanding their portfolio is something I can get behind. Its nice to see a new player in the Trappist game - not that theres anything wrong with the existing
I have enjoyed drinking the Spencer Trappist Ale; I had it a couple of times on draft. I have never purchased this beer in bottles since it is outrageously priced. It will be interesting to see how these new brands will be priced. Cheers!
