Well Duet has always been my last option of all their IPA's when on tap at the pub. Definitely different and definitely nothing special compared to other IPA's imo. Mostly had it to laugh at the fact it was available out there but hey it's going to be available almost anywhere now. That keg was also at least a week old. No one was really ordering it according to the bartender.

I actually liked Duet a lot, but always filled my growlers with the DuHop mix. Best of both worlds.....if Nelson wasn't on that is.

I bought Alpine Nelson, Duet and Hoppy Birthday bottles that were all bottled at Green Flash. I dislikes all versions previously on draft, but I wanted to give them a try with the changes in the process. I had the Nelson last night and I'm drinking the Hoppy Birthday. Nelson was on point with the only exception being the bitterness. I don't recall it having that much before, but the aroma, mouthfeel and taste were all the greatness I remembered. Hoppy Birthday is spot on. I'll report on the Duet as soon as I try it. My only complaint is the "best by" printed date is 6 months out. I firmly believe that even under optimal refridgeration, 90 days is a bit much for an IPA of this complexity. So they should definitely real that in if they want to showcase the wonder that is fresh Alpine. Cheers.

Have these bottles made it out of SD yet? Any sightings in LA?

Hitting the Bay Area this week and I've heard of sightings in Virginia. If it hasn't hit LA yet, I would expect it to imminently.

No love for LA, driving up i5 to the Bay without stopping. I am interested to see fresh Nelson soon despite weird GF bottle shapes

Had a green flash Nelson bottle tonight and it was Very Good, I don't think I've had real alpine Nelson before but I will buy this again, glad NorCal is finally getting bottles.

So is it true that the real alpine Nelson version is better due to them using well water 3000 feet up in SD mountains?

According to sandiegocounty.gov, the Alpine planning area ranges in elevation from 1500 to 4100 feet. That world-reknown expert source Wikipedia calls it at 1800 feet and change.

Ain't the internet a bitchen place?

Picked up 2 growlers, and a handful of bottles of Nelson from GreenFlash over the weekend. Growlers were OK, bottles were great, best attempt to date imo.

Just looked at Bevmo and you could buy a 5.16 gal keg of Nelson for $144.99 or Captain Stout for $124.99.

I live down the street and occasionally run. My trusty Running Ahead map (which uses Google Maps) has the brewery at 1,869 feet. The current pub is about 1,732 feet. I know this means everything to this discussion.
