People said this after the vintage release for the August release. And said it again after the Thursday BBBB release for Friday and Saturday. And again after the Friday BBBB release for Saturday.

Guarantee if this happens they will be wondering why they have so much left over and it will sit in the beer depot until the next R&D release.

Nah, it just means the locals will go back daily for the following week or so to buy up the rest, 2 bottles at a time.

If you're right and provided it didn't result in lower volume future R&D batches I'm all for it.

Wild bitter lasted 5 weeks, and only sold out that fast because of the Thursday and Friday crowd at the Vintage release going through the beer depot line multiple times.

Then that many more people got to try it. Fuck the people who go thru multiple times, those are the idiot who ruin these events for everyone else.

I was told during the BBBB release that they were not quite ready yet, but that they would be for the Oct release. This was directly from a NG employee who was checking ids, but who knows. Well find out soon enough. Im happy with the 2pp on this one since ill be out of town that weekend, i should have a chance to grab some the following week (ill just have to take a long lunch break)!

Is there a deadline by which R&D releases must be sold out by? I'm willing to bet Dan & Deb would be more than happy for an R&D release to last at the depot for a few months if it means more people get a chance to try it vs selling out a release within the three days due to cross dressers repeatedly getting back in line each day. There is no doubt in that. Credit to NG for seeking out ways to combat this idiocy. Many breweries probably wouldn't even try.

That's why I'm saying some rogue bottles of Bitter must have somehow made their way in. The beer I was poured when I asked for the Golden was undoubtedly Wild Bitter. I have had that beer numerous times and it stands out in my memory. Could definitely have given some folks the wrong impression of what to expect from the next R&D.

Look I'm not going to argue with you about this but if I drive 5 hours round trip to get some beer, I'd like more then fucking two.

Actually, if you want more people to try it, sell it by the case. That's what cycle does, the people that buy the case drink 1 or 2 and send the rest to trading partners.

Well, I was referring to local people trying it. Not re-distributing beer across the country. I do appreciate how important trading buddies are but it does not seem to be in spirit of a local beer release.

Then bring a friend or accept the fact that you get 2. If you don't think it's worth it, stay home.

Your entitlement does not increase with along with your drive time.

I don't see how entitlement and cost of time and money are interrelated? I fucking accept the fact that I'd get two but I'd like more. Jeez man. I'm not attacking the fucking brewery but I'd sure as hell am allowed to sound my opinion. I don't see how it's entitled when this brewery makes plenty of profit a year, has the time and money and no one is going to show up for this release. But sure, fuck me, even though I'm showing more devotion by showing up then some local who shows up a week after it comes out 4 days in a row and gets way more.

Make a weekend of it and go all three days to get six. Bring a wife/girlfriend/friend and get four. Trade for more (they won't trade highly). Two is what the rule is, and you know it going in. It's not like they're dropping that bomb on you after you arrive. You have options. I agree it would be nice to get more, if they did it like Side Project or something and determined the limit by the amount of people that show up, but unfortunately it's not that way, and we have to deal.

Make a weekend out of it? Ballpark estimate how much you think that would cost? Factor in I work a weekend job, and no vacation pay so I just lose money for going in general.

How am I supposed to know your life? I was just trying to help you figure it out if you want more, no offense meant.

Also, just for the record, I'm driving a four-hour round-trip as well, and I'm going al thre days. On the third day, I'm going on another two-and-a-half-hour trip to Central Waters, and then back to my home in Chicago, another three-and-a-half hours. I'm sure many people have long journeys to get there, so you're not the only one going through a lot for only two bottles.

Apologies, I thought I did. My response comes from anger cause people say things like this without thought to the backstory. It's $40 in gas to drive there plus the time to drive there. For one day. Two bottles. Hotel would be minimum $100+ on top of that I'd rather not spend vacation money on the state I live in. Nor bother other's to come down for an Okay beer most likely. If it's a monster beer, I without a doubt will put my time, ask other's to come and so forth. A beer like this? Come on, it's not even trade bait.

I amended my post to reflect my personal travel situation. Let me say that I completely sympathize with you and your desire for more. I don't think the trade value nor the perceived lack of quality (incorrectly, I think, since Golden Ale is/was actually really tasty and has a ton of aging potential).

My solution for you, I guess, is just don't go if it's too much. I know we all have to pick and choose our beer battles with so much great beer coming out all the time. If this isn't worth it, neither Dan nor anyone else are twisting your arm to come.

Meh. Dan's stouts have never been too special I don't think. I'd rather he sticks to what he knows.
