Last year they had cases of bbpt5 for sale the next day. I really want some rumpt5, but I'm not waiting all night in the bitter cold haha. I will head down late and grab a case of bbpt5 though.

If the production is the same as last year I'll hopefully roll in around 6 ish. For some reason last year sucked and I got there maybe around 0300. Maybe I was just a little buzzed because it was also 18th Streets 1st anniversary party and we closed that down before driving over. The year before with all the snow was more fun.

They need to trim the width of that line down like they do with cattle.

Lessons learned from going for the last few years to keep in mind:

    1. While fun at times, waiting in line for the stuff released is really really dumb.
    2. Drink BBPt5 within 2 months of receiving it. Thereafter, it becomes a shell of its former self.
    3. Do not buy any vintage BBPt5 released, see number 2.
    4. Despite your FOMO, maximizing your allocation for everything is incredibly dumb, see number 1.
    5. There will be PLENTY of BBPt5 to go around for at least a week after the release. The only reason to attend the party would be for the drafts and food, which are nice to try and interesting, respectively.
    6. BourbRum Pt5 has turned into a mess (some thought it was a mess upon release, I enjoyed it) less than 1 year out.
    7. The "line" becomes a suggestion rapidly when the time gets closer to release.
    8. Don't buy anything marked sour from Dark Horse.

There are plenty more, but that's a good start. Have fun waiting in line everyone. We'll be enjoying a good night's sleep and will see you at the party briefly.

I am just going to guess non existent? Lansing gained uber not too long ago, with the size of Marshall I would think they don't have it. But I have no clue.

I drank a BBPt5 earlier this week and I was happy with it. It doesn't seem to improve with age but it's definitely not a "shell of its former self" either.

2014 BBPlead opened a couple weeks ago was definitely a shell of its former self. Smoke bomb, little to no barrel and the chocolate body is nowhere to be found. Not a bad beer mind you, but not what I love about BBPlead.

Take a bottle of 2014 and drink it alongside a fresh pour of 2015 at the party.

I completely agree with @Lansman on every point. That said, for first timers, the line the night before is an outstanding opportunity to try some otherwise unattainable beers if you are fortunate to be around groups with a lot to share. But be prepared...last year it was about 30 degrees with near 100% humidity making things uncomfortable for the underprepared. Layers, hand and boot heaters, great beer to share and a fire source are all recommended. But who knows, maybe this year will be 50 overnight.

How is the 2014 4 Elf Winter Warmer? Anybody had one lately?
I saw a few in a store the other day...

Are you sure it was the 2014vintage? I believe they release 4 elf early now, so that they can barrel age some for the 4 elf party.

No, not sure. There was only a couple 4 packs on the bottom shelf so I assumed they were last years.
I will check that out. Have you had it with about a year on it?

sarcastro may be correct....they had a ton of it on the floor when I was there a couple weeks ago. I thought wow....they can't move this stuff (thinking it was last years). Being 2015 makes sense now.

4 Elf sits on the shelf around here. We have plenty of 2014 still hanging around.
