Mostly due to the style of hub-network they went with. FedEx (and to a lesser extent, UPS) are hugely centralized because of their air operations. USPS has never been allowed to operate planes (the flipside of them being allowed a monopoly on 1st class mail) and thus their operations are more spread out since they don't have to centralize so much to operate, especially historically. Even now that 1st class mail has been on the decline and package services have been increasing for the past decade, USPS still doesn't have a huge incentive to centralize like FedEx has since USPS airmail has to be put on another air carrier's planes (either freight or commercial), thus they only need the facilities near airports, not the central hub. And that central hub is really what makes rail shipping worthwhile since you need to be able to put a decent amount of freight on the train to make it worth locating a facility nearby.

OK Locals (and loveable lurkers), it's LIF Friday I see. I feel left out so here we go.

On Saturday I am getting another tattoo while in Glenwood Springs (BEFORE the Casey release). My appointment is at 10:45AM, and the Casey release starts at 11, so it's not crazy complex (though, remember with the new ticketing system I can stroll in any time before 3PM--well FUKIN done Troy!).

First person to guess what I am getting done wins. I'll start posting hints and such later tonight after I get to GWS if nobody has gotten it.

This is open to all Locals in good standing, SWTFYW Lurkers, or any non-asstwats. You should all play! That said, I respectfully ask that if you have had a Casey fruit beer before that should you win you pick a less-fortunate local as the target of this precision strike. If my wife finds next week's FedEx bill I'm FUK'd.

I've always wanted to go there! I tried replicating their BBQ Sauce from an internet recipe and thought it was fantastic!

    How about... $ 104 and 10:44 a.m. Thanks!

I have only had the saison at a bottle share, and it was amazing. Would love to try a fruit stand.

I will go with someone's initials as the tattoo.
