I had a brew gentlemen American barleywine at caliente tonight and it was pretty good. I haven't had any of their beers that all yinz rave about but this one was the best I've had so far. It doesn't help that they serve beers at like 30° though

The colder a liquid is, the more it expands. Caliente serves their beer extra cold so a lesser volume of it is needed to fill their 14oz pint glasses.

Got their snifter pour which I guess is 6-8 oz at happy hour for $3 so I thought that was reasonable

I had Hop Fro last night for the first time and as you guys know I haven't been a big fan of Fat Heads IPA's, but it is a pretty kick ass Pale Ale. Very citrus forward with a round hop finish. I will be picking up another 6pk for sure.

90 Min is on special at GE. $8.99 for a 4pk.

I had it on tap probably 2 months ago and it was incredible. I need to pick up some 6ers.

I like the fact that it stands out on its own as it doesn't taste like the Pseudo's of the world. Hell I hammered 4 last night along with a 90min while I was forced to watch the Steelers game.

So, the State of Pennsylvania is going to have a lottery for "Rare" liquor bottles? This just sounds really sleezy - http://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...-debut-limited-release-lottery-300152863.html

The first lottery will feature 24 bottles of Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection, including 12 bottles of French Oak Barrel Aged Bourbon 100 Proof and 12 bottles of French Oak Barrel Head Aged Bourbon. Each 375mL bottle will cost $48.49.

As a lover and collector of bourbon...this saddens me. However...it probably is the best way to keep our state's allocation in-state. We all saw this coming!

I've hear all of the buffalo trace antique bottles will be a lottery system as well in the next week or two

Have you tried jungle juiced? If you like the citrus in hop fro my guess is you'll really like the citrus headhunter, even if you don't like the base beer.

If I may ask, why don't you like fat heads IPAs? Headhunter and sunshine are fridge staples for me so I'm curious.

Or best way to keep it from not having the internet crash on release day like last year?

I was bored at work today so I took a drive to Vintage Estates during my "lunch break." Lucked into some super fresh Revolution Unsessionable, 3F Yum Yum and Bell's 30. Flatbread was kick ass as well.

Well I should start off with the fact that my interest in IPAs has really faded in the past 7 years or so. I know that the East Coast IPA is the hot thing now but i really couldn't give two shits about them. Frankly I am pretty bored with the style and don't find it that enjoyable to drink.

That isn't to say that there aren't some great IPAs out there, I know there are, they are just mostly lost on me. Same thing goes for Headhunter, it just isn't my thing. I don't like the hop profile and have a hard time drinking a whole bottle of it. Trust me, I get plenty of shit from the guys on here (i probably deserve it) :grinning:

I mentioned recently that I thought a lot of the BG IPAs were getting a little same, same. I am not a person that needs slight variations of the same IPA. I love Akami, where as Lou's and a few of the others (that I am too lazy to look up right now) taste like less interesting versions of a great beer. CPA is delicious.

I have been enjoying the hell out of Pale Ales lately thus I picked up the Hop Fro, and I loved it.

I usually only buy DiPAs. When I have a IPA craving i'll grab Sucks. Sorry for the long winded answer to a straight forward questions. haha.

I honestly am quite upset we haven't learned anything over the past almost 20 years. Why can't we learn from history. When will this East Coast vs West Coast feud ever end. It only ever ends badly. I just wish all IPAs could get along.

No one can ever accuse you of not being thorough! This is well thought and reasoned, however.

Seriously though I get it. I can't say I'm not similar and go through taste shifts and stylistic preferences.

Its kinda funny, when I was at GABF last weekend I stopped by the Lawsons booth and tried Sip Of Sunshine as well as Hopzilla. After trying both I said, those were solid beers but I don't need to have them again.

IPAs don't get me the same way a sour or a barrel aged stout does. When I tried Rare Barrel's Home Sour Home I was amazed. So many different things going on in that beer, I immediately wanted more.
