I think it sucks from a Texas traders standpoint.

I wish I didn't have to drive 3 hours to buy it.

JK never fails to amaze me with their distribution. Rediculous.

I agree, it has been good to us to have JK beers as tradebait. I am, however, happy for the guys at JK. They are much deserving of wider appreciation.

Out of all the other states JK could of expanded to, and they had to pick Cali! (shakes fist!) lol

EVERYONE GO BUY EVERYTHING OFF THE SHELF NOW SO THEY CAN'T KEEP UP WITH DEMAND.

Spread the love. The only thing that might piss me off would be seeing it sell cheaper in CA than TX. But I don't know if that will be the case.

I guess the best course of action for us Texans looking to fortify our stockpiles is with the original versions of Black Metal and Wychmaker...

I'm not sure there is such thing as something that is cheaper in Cali than in TX.

I normally don't post things like this but...
Best Damn Beer Shop got Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Noble King and Petit Prince.
too far of a drive for me coming from East County. I've seen Black Metal and Wytchmaker at other shops but this is the first time I've heard of Thrash Metal and others in CA.

It has been a while since I have bought beer in CA but I recall prices were a bit cheaper, though I wasn't buying stuff we get here. I don't think they're taxed as much since there is no "CABC" like our TABC. But I get what you're saying, it is part of why I moved here. I may be wrong. I do remember seeing Ass Kisser for $6.99 at BevMo when it was $9.99 here, but it was so bad that they may have been trying to just get rid of it.

Now how am I going to get Russian River, The Bruery, Lost Abbey, etc? Just kidding, as long as you guys keep the limited stuff here we will all be happy.

I guess now I have another reason to fly to Cali. I'm happy for JK. Just wish I could buy their stuff locally.

There is always other trade bait. Plenty of thirsty Californians who want Boulevard and Brooklyn.

So you consider the raised cost a "tax"?

This is true, almost like us and Firestone Walker.
Yep and Freetail. I'm not even sure if this will be a regular thing, this is the first and only store I've seen get these.

Not sure about beer but I know liquor was quite a bit cheaper when I went a few years ago. Cabo anejo for $30 a bottle.

I think he was implying that our state taxes may be heavier on beer than California's, thus those taxes cause a higher retail price here versus there.

My research points to Texas being quite low in terms of overall beer pricing when compared to some states, whether or not it's the "lowest" though I have no basis for comparison since I haven't been beer shopping in every state.

I have no idea how it works in detail other than brewery to distributor to retailer. I have heard speculation that their is sometimes a fourth tier in out of area brews, like a wholesaler type thing.

Having just picked up bottles in Texas and seeing them on a few shelves here I want to say I recall Texas being cheaper. Could just have been the shops here though.
