I truly enjoyed reading a lot of these posts but for me it is simple. I keep what is alright to drink in my fridge, I keep what is special hidden away. If someone where to find my private stash and feel compelled to drink one, I would feel compelled to dig them a six foot deep bed to sleep in somewhere on my property.

One of the best posts I have ever read. Thank you for that.

My wife knows I would probably drop a "Peoples Elbow" on her if she let other people drink my good stock of beer. She knows what is "mine" and what is the "go ahead and give this to people" stock. That stock is normally the swill that friends bring over and leave there, i.e. corona, Miller Lite, etc....

Never had this problem. Granted I don't keep special beers where anyone could just grab one. I wouldn't put a bunch of special beers in the fridge when I know people are going to be grabbing beers from said fridge.

Not about needing permission, just seems like common courtesy. I would never for a second think about opening a beverage of any kind at someone else's house without asking the host. And I assume his wife knows he's pretty into beer and has a bunch that he considers special (even if she doesn't really get it). Just seems like kind of a dick move to go opening your husband's stuff with your drunk friends when he's out of town. My wife is welcome to anything I have, but she still asks because it's the nice thing to do, just like I wouldn't go into my wife's stuff and take it without asking. Isn't that basic kindergarten manners?

My wife gets me all the time. Heady, tree hous, trillium etc. does not matter. She text me if I am not home. No reception means fair game to here.

Not exactly the rarest beer, but a friend of mine drank my SN BA Bigfoot while I went out to get him more beer.

Also should mention he didn't really drink it as much as he took a sip and thought it would be a grand idea to dump his down the drain.

He ' made it up to me ' by bringing me five bottles of eight month old shock top. Thanks bruh!....

Never happens here, my three sons all love beer. They appreciate the effort and money I put out to keep tasty beverages in the house. Its probably due to the fact that I always share with them, which helps them keep their grubby paws off of my stuff.

Any friend or family member is welcome to enjoy whatever is in my fridge...be it beer, wine or food.

Quite the opposite in our house. If I brought something special home and she drank it, I would expect her to give me the rundown of what it was like. If she loved it, I'll get another bottle. if she didn't like it....then she just saved my tastebuds.

A college roommate drank/threw up a black note 2012 I had traded for all over the kitchen floor and sink area.

Only time that's happened. No one else should go into my fridge/closet and just start opening stuff

As long as she didn't drain pour it because the beer tasted "off."

My wife keeps her beers and ciders etc in the main fridge upstairs, and I keep basically everything that isn't on a shelf in a separate fridge downstairs. 9/10 times she doesn't like anything I'm drinking anyway so it's not really a concern, it's more of an extra benefit due to the fact that if I kept all my beer in the upstairs fridge we wouldn't have any room for food.

I kind of do this too, in our main fridge I generally always have 6-12 Yuengling or something along those lines that's up for grabs.

None because my friends and loved ones respect me.

Alright this came on a little strong. Truthfully, my wife doesn't drink much craft (she'll always try mine anyway, god bless her) and my extended family is either completely disinterested or knows I'll pick something they'll like better than they could pick for themselves anyway (by which I mean they haven't heard of the non-local stuff I keep around).

And for friends that come over, I open stuff freely enough that there'd never be a need or really an opportunity) to go fishing.

"It's just beer." Yeah, but some of them are just $30+ too, or extremely difficult to acquire. Not exactly the same thing as spilling a Heineken.

When my brother was in Afghanistan, his now ex-wife drank his -entire- beer cellar because "she was bored." :astonished:
