I'm happy to give this a try, no politics needed. If it's good, I'll buy more.

I took it more as a comical attempt to "educate" the person reading it. "It's hazy because it's hoppy!"

Got to try this last weekend at the Mass Brewers Guild beer fest. Was pretty good, nothing to go crazy over. If the price is right, $9.99ish 4/pk , I can see myself reaching for it from time to time. The lady at the Sam Adams booth said they're tweaking the final brew and should be hitting shelves soon..... we shall see

Any small tasting notes? What flavors were dominant? Any beer you'd liken it too?

    I'm intrigued by this offering...

I'll give this one a fair shake once it hit shelves. I like the description (cloudy, hoppy are always good) so we'll see how it stands up.

given the wide variety of local and regional beers in my liquor stores, sam adams is the last thing i am reaching for regardless of price...havent had one in at least 10 years.....am i missing something? or just a snob?

Not really, lol. I thought some of the Rebel series was good and appropriately priced, but there are better options out there. No reason to avoid picking some up to try, though as they deserve a fair shake IMO. Not like it's going to break the bank, especially if you can grab a couple singles.

Honestly it was a bit hard to say, after having quite a few other tasters. But I can say it was definitely bitter and had very slight fruity notes. Was told that they were trying to get a bit more citrusy/juicyness and toning down the pine. If I lived closer, I would hit up the tap room for a growler. Guess we will just have to wait until it gets out in the open market

Just because he doesn't like it doesn't mean the brewers dont as well.

A 10% DIPA? Lock and load, I'll buy it and drink it. :sunglasses:

Wait, they're tweaking the recipe before sending it out to stores? But I thought you only had to be like 65% of the way there before going to market with an IPA?

Is this in stores yet? Tried Rebel Rouser this week and thought it was pretty damn good, if a bit boozy. I'm sure it's even bigger brother will have the same issue, but worth a shot if the price is right.

Jayzuz christ I could smell the beer snobbery before clicking the thread.

I love the overall sentiment of the thread:

"I'm feeling sad about Sam Adams entering my sacred niche DIPA market. But oh well, I might try this. Rebel was alright, I guess, for a macro. I'm probably too cool for this DIPA, but if it's cheap, hey, why not?"

I'd say it's less snobbery and more disappointment. BBC has so much money to throw at making a solid IPA but they keep on falling short. Meanwhile there are plenty of better options even at BBC's price point. Anyone in their right mind would love to see BBC nail a double ipa.

Hopefully they go all in and not just dip a toe in. You gotta do something spectacular in a sea of their own average beers. Not because they can't, maybe just won't, so why bother? But you never know One HR makes them relevant as hell, as they have the Distro network to flood the market. Still a good price point. Just can't half step on this stuff it just dies on the shelf.
