@Westmalle318 I thought you were speaking in some extremely intelligent beer talk that was over my head! But then you redeemed your self

I'll be in shreveport next Thursday. Wondering if Thursday draws a crowd there?

I'll contact Great Raft directly but was wondering if they would be ok if I brought a few bottles to share.

@AndrewNations can chime in if things are different this year, but probably not.

@AndrewNations Im assuming this is the collaboration that they did with GRB? Will we be seeing this in Shreveport?

Not quite. They brought back some Mayhaws with them when they visited. Very limited but Im sure it will be great. We still plan to release our beer with them early next year here at Great Raft.

We poured Provisions and Traditions V3, BA Old Mad Joy and Double Dry Hopped Commotion on Oak. No medals but had a great time learning more about the Chicago craft scene.

Visited Half Acre, FFF, Penrose, Solemn Oath and Lagunitas. All doing some great stuff. Sat in on a Good Beer Hunting podcast with Eric Salazar of New Belgium. Learned an enormous amount about foeders and sour beer. Truly priceless.

Can’t wait to get back.. maybe when its not 14F.

@AndrewNations When will we be seeing "Mixed Feelings" in Shreveport? I saw Avenue Pub will be releasing it on 1/31 as well as a John Besh collab dark rye saison with carraway (provisions and traditions 4?). Any chance we see any of the blue jacket stuff here also? Sounds like they are bringing an apricot saison and peach and nectarine sour down there that I would love to try!

Yes, plenty of Mixed Feelings and Besh V4 around Shreveport but doubtful on the other BlueJacket beers. Just sending down enough for the event on the 31st.

@AndrewNations how is this batch of BA Old Mad Joy? Hoping to make it by Saturday.

Most of the staff agrees this batch has more bbl character than the Pappy release. Lots of oak and vanilla. It’s boozy and a bit hot but that’s the case with any fresh 10% bbl aged beer. I like it. Folks forget that it’s a lager. If you expect it to be super thick and syrupy like a KBS or something you will be disappointed. Obviously KBS is great but we wanted to do something different with this brand.

@AndrewNations Congratulations on Come What Mayhaw. Another stellar release. Your team just keeps releasing hit after hit after hit. Question: I purchased a bottle of Provisions hoping to "cellar" it and open it in October when fall starts to creep in. I believe the flavors of that saison will match perfectly with the beginning of fall...will it retain its freshness and flavor by then or is bottled to be enjoyed sooner rather than later?

I had to trade for Old Mad Joy...and it smoked my expectations.
    Delicious
It reminded me of Prairie Okie a bit...but not quite as boozed.
