hah. Much appreciated offer. I will check out helltown's hours.
Really not sure what the trip is all about. I do know they have this culty "fellowship" thing at work, and I'm hoping that doesnt bleed into the trip...

also this from the DL Plague FB event.
(not all the info is "new", but interesting)

It all happened in Hampton, a little suburb just north of the city. If you know it, then you probably also know Caliente opened their second location there in the spring of 2014. What you might NOT know is that our new production facility is located in Hampton as well. Knowing Caliente's reputation for having a consistently awesome lineup of local and other craft beers on draft (not to mention some serious pizza game), we just had to meet the neighbors.

We were stoked to learn our buddy Matt Moninger had recently taken over as Head Bartender at the Hampton location, and after 9 years brewing for Church Brew Works, he was eager to put his skills and experience to use to enrich the beer program at one of PGH's best beer bars.

We were even more stoked to find out Matt is heading up Caliente's new collaborative brewing initiative that launched with the 2015 East End collaboration, Hop Slice. Before he and the Caliente team head to Yards for their next guest brewing project, we asked him to team up with us on OUR latest endeavor.

So are we to presume that DL is still opening at 5pm on Friday as normal, but the "release" doesn't occur until 7pm?

I thought they already said... $13? $16? Something in that ballpark.

I don't remember where I saw it, TBH. It was in that ballpark though. I want to say it's $16.

Seems like a waste of a week, IMO. I plan to get there around 6:55 or so... Do the Pittsburgh thing and put a chair in my spot, will you?

In Boston, due to the yearly arount of snow mother nature dumps on our chest, we too practice the household-item-in-parking-spot place holder. Especially the townies. One thing that made me feel right at home upon arrival.

edit: beer, trillium parking in the winter, beer.

Returned from a quick weekend trip to Annapolis; thanks to @DeutschesBier for the suggestions. Sought out and found both Nanticoke Nectar and Double Duckpin; together they represented the beer highlights of the trip. Also hit up the Winery, which unfortunately had a bunch of old stock (IPAs year+ old). Grabbed a sixer of the (younger and refrigerated) Double Duckpin, another of Reach Around IPA (Mispillion River Brewing, DE) and a red from Maine Brewing Co.

Weather sucked big time and my kids took turns throwing up on themselves in their respective car seats (bitch to clean!). We stopped at Morgantown Brewing on the return trip, there was talk about it either in this thread or the nuked one. Recall the reviews as being less than overly favorable and unfortunately that was my impression as well. They were out of their IPA and Saison--out of the remainders I was most hopeful of a barrel aged offering, which unfortunately suffered from a number of limitations, including a super watery mouthfeel.

Glad you were able to snag some Double Duckpin and Nanticoke Nectar. This was the first run of cans for NN, so you know it's fresh. The Winery definitely doesn't know how to handle their hoppy beer selection, but I go there for odds and ends that other places don't always stock (like Lindeman's Gueuze Cuvee Rene).

Hope you enjoyed your trip...other than the vomit.

They don't fill growlers at all, so I'm pretty sure that's out.

It will be available on draft at Draai Laag. Not sure if it will be on at Caliente.

I don't know about anyone else but there is no way in hell I could ever drink a growler of a sour myself. I think I wouldn't be able to taste anything for a month.

Yeah, me either. I can barely put down a 750ml bottle by myself.

Love sours, but usually I'm in sharing mode when staring down a 750 or larger myself. Dad brought me back a growler of Smurf's Blood (realize this is wild) not too long. Told him thanks and then explained the crowler station they have there.
