They're good and well-made for sure, but for the R&Ds I would prefer sours/saisons/Brett stuff.

I would love to see Dan create a brett saison and age it in barrels. I would buy as many of those as possible.

I'm happy to see the Golden Ale return, as Orval is one of my all-time favorites and this is a nice homage. I do think they attention they pay to it as an R&D pays off, even though I won't get my hands on near enough of it.

But man, a Wisconsin Brett Saison aged in barrels would be mind blowing.

Going to be pretty late on Friday...probably not arriving until 11/11:30. In your past experiences will there still be bottles available then?

Yes. You will be able to buy this one for several weeks I would guess.

You'll be fine arriving later (or anytime?) on Thursday and Friday. Could sell out on Saturday, could be there for a few days or weeks after. Definitely seems like less excitement overall for this. People are saying it will be closer to Wild Bitter, than BBBB or Vintage

I bet many will save their money for CW Black Gold this weekend. This R&D should be around for a long time.

    Quoted for emphasis and accuracy.

BTW, I think this was totally by design. I think NG would love to have an R&D beer available at the depot for an extended period of time. It's great for marketing (to the non beer geek crowd), both for visiting the brewery and for the R&D series in general. Not that they wouldn't love all the revenue up front, but really, it's about an hours worth of Spotted Cow. And it doesn't cost them anything besides a little space in the Beer Depot.

I think there are plenty who WISH they could do both but went to stupid Florida with the family instead...

I recommend IP trades to get more; may cost you a couple bucks more than the bottles but it's sort of a win-win in that you get more beer you traveled for and locals get some beer they want. Definitely cheaper than a hotel.

    Just a thought.

Right? Stupid Florida and its stupid humidity. Why did they have to choose the Black Gold weekend of all the weekends?
And then my stupid flight makes stopping at NG Friday morning stupid impossible.

Oh well, I'll get some Cigar City and it'll be my first time seeing my sister since she turned 21.

I had a friend who was just down at cigar city and couldn't buy anything to take home really because their bottling/canning facility was down. Hopefully it's back up for you.

Haha! I like the sarcasm! I'd have never gotten the all clear to go to either of these releases even if I was in town but a guy can dream can't he?!? I was planning to hit cigar city but we are 3 hours away from that as well. Best hope is Point Ybel it seems, maybe I'll see if my long lost sister wants to come with.

It's funny how much the craft beer world has changed over the past few years. I remember in 2012 going to the New Glarus brewery to check it out and they had 2009 golden ale that had been sitting around for 2 or so years and they guy told me to buy as much as I wanted. I picked up a case and I just finished the last bottle this summer (it held up amazing over the years.) It just goes to show how crazy things have gotten when I read this thread and how angry people get that they had to change there rules due to demand.

I have a feeling the much maligned Old English Porter would receive a much different response now as well.

Thanks for the heads up, fingers crossed everything's in working order.

On topic again, I'm curious what the line looks like (if there even is a line)? I'm hoping the above posters are right about it sitting at the depot for a bit, I'd love to grab some when I'm back in town.
