I never forget flagship beers. I always keep some on hand from one of the many local Asheville breweries

Have a bottle of '08 Curieux. Looking forward to enjoying this sometime in the near future. However, afraid to open it now especially since Allagash has been out of MI for years now...

I would be surprised if it hasn't fallen off. You could always trade for another bottle... it's pretty available in the northeast.

i'll be honest, and i'm sure i'm not alone in this, but i havent even HEARD of 4 of these. 4 of these i've had; Weihenstephaner Hefe was one of my first crafts, Schneider Weiss Aventinus was another German beer i broke into, Double Jack was good but not spectacular for me, and Sierra Nevada etc. I can't get Lion Stout and just haven't bought Allagash Curieux.

i know, call me a trailer park bumpkin with a 6th grade education..

and i think "Ten Great Beers Forgotten" is deceiving, it takes knowing something to forget. Maybe "Ten Quality Beers not enjoyed and appreciated enough".

I've only three of them and I will never forget Double Jack, my favorite IIPA when I can find it fresh I snatch it up, also Peche Mortel and SNPA will never be forgotten.

pretty sure you can see 5-8 and 10 posted in the what are you drinking right now thread on any given day, that is literally half the list. maybe people have found "better" or more hyped beers to replace these but i don't know about forgotten....i mean they put double jack on there....i can't think of many beers that are less at risk of being forgotten by craft drinkers than double jack

I like these articles, but this one ... it seems like it's less an actual article, and more one dude's "Hey, I like these beers!" kind of blog.

DFM's Saint Bon-Chien? Delicious, and I've certainly seen it here; although, as the author suggests, it is nearly prohibitively expensive. Lion Stout? Just not that great to begin with. Rodenbach Grand Cru? No one drinks this??? Did he seriously go there?

Weihenstephaner, Aventinus, Peche freaking Mortel, Double Jack, Curieux? Now he's clearly just fucking with us. Every one of the beers he listed is fantastic - and zero of them are overlooked!

Maybe the people this dude knows don't drink these beers, but they're pretty darn common on this forum, and with my friends. No fantastic overlooked beers here.

The only thing that keeps me from drinking Peche Mortel is being out of it.
He should check in with WBAYDN occasionally and see a lot of these beers in action.

No kidding! I grab two bottles of it whenever I see it (usually in RI or VT), and it's gone before the week is up, every time.

I gather from process of elimination that you've not heard of Rodenbach Grand Cru, BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien, Het Anker Cuvee van de Keizer Blauw, and Dieu du Ciel Peche Mortel. Rodenbach and Peche Mortel are constantly talked about on these forums and both are near the top of their styles, which are quite popular themselves (Flanders Red and American Imperial Stout, respectively); I'm stunned that you've not heard of either, and I highly suggest you run out to your local store and buy them; they'll be there for sure.

BFM's Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien is the second-highest rated Biere de Garde on this site, so it's a little surprising that you've not heard of that one, too. I guess BdG isn't that popular of a style, but it's basically a darker, maltier saison, which is very buzzy these days. That beer is also barrel-aged in multiple different barrels and is a different beer each vintage, which should in our reality make it hyped. It's surprising that its cost is prohibitive for many when it is basically the pinnacle of the style (even if it is a bit of a deviation from that style from a rigorous perspective); these same people would likely drop $60 on Rare if they were to win the lottery, which doesn't really add up logically.

I have seen and known Cuvee van de Keizer Blauw, but I have never had it. Now I'll probably try to.

All in all, not a great list, but not terrible. Certainly it wasn't as bad as the best "unknown" brewery/beer list that was recently discussed here.

The beer that I could never secure a trade for when I joined this site! That, and Westy 12.

This article was click-bait. Any craft drinker worth their salt would never "forget" Peche Mortel, Double Jack, Weihenstephaner Hefe or Sierra.

    I've bought all repeatedly.

The #10 is a pretty solid point, at least. I was at a bar recently where a gameday special was a cheap pitcher of Samuel Adams Boston Lager, so I gave it a whirl and I was stunned to be reminded that it's actually a damn fine and pretty unique American lager.

I still, and always will, love SNPA. Other than that, though, Double Jack's the only beer on that list I've had. Great beer, but I had to order it offline because of limited distributing. Never seen any of those beers, other than SN, on a shelf locally. Maybe that's part of the problem?

Most of those beers see wide distribution. Unfortunately, I imagine Kentucky doesn't have the best import selection (which many of them are) or selection in general.
