New Glarus 2015 R&D

No line but they scanned IDs, no joke.

 

Be sure to check out Coppertail brewing, close to CCB. Enjoyed my visit there FAR more than visiting CCB. I also enjoyed Green Bench a lot though - cool environment and wide variety on tap.

 

I'm glad to hear both of those things. Seems even more likely this one will sit at the depot for awhile...

 

Nobody was scanning ID's at 8:45 and the parking lot was less than 1/2 full

 

Another smooth release, just like all the others. Barely anyone there at 10:45 and no id scan

 

They are only scanning ID's if you buy something in the beer depot. Similar to scanning ID's at the grocery store to verify age.

 

They scanned everybody's IDs at right when they opened where you bought the tickets to get the bottles. Basically, showed ID and got wristband in line, when they opened I went to the main ticket booth and had to have them scan my ID and get my tickets.

 

Ahhhh got confirmation that the scanners broke, lol.

In case anyone is interested, here are coffee/food details for the next couple days in support of the R&D release. Sounds like some good stuff.

Thursday
7:00 a.m. Fat Cat Coffee Works will be serving pastries to hungry R & D’ers on Thursday and Friday morning. They will start selling around 7am. Until approximately 9:00 a.m. They will have their Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes and their Ham and Cheese Scones, for $2.50 each. Cash only!
Friday

9:00 a.m. La Fortuna’s last visit of the year! They are planning on serving from s 9-1:00ish, depending on demand their supplies! There will be a special "breakfastish" pizza called The Cure featuring onions, mushrooms, bacon, cheese and optional chorizo, as well as the spicy Fanboy and other favorites.
Saturday
7:00 a.m. Yes Coffee Roasters from Monroe WI will be offering their Guatemala Waykan Finca El Valle. $2 for an 8 oz. cup.
New Glarus Hotel will also be serving lunch in our courtyard on Saturday & Sunday!

 

At the actual brewery or in the town? I'm all for NG having a food truck or two in the parking lot even if it is just for the R&D releases.

 

I arrived at 1130, like 15 people hanging out. Plenty of beer left, oh and they scanned my ID.. with their EYEBALLS.

 

Stopped @ 2:00, was the only person looking for R&D and they gave me a big blue X on the back of my hand with a sharpie.

 

I look forward to the pics next week showing the giant stack of R&D in the depot.

 

Anyone know if they care about expired IDs? I lost my current one last weekend and just have my old one for right now....

 

Based on the low level of scrutiny they gave my ID, I'd guess you'd be OK. Didn't hear/see anything official on the topic though.

 

I find it hilarious I.D. Scanning started finally with the least cared about r and d this year! Will definitely be good though and come to use in the future releases. Especially with the kinks worked out.

 

If I remember correctly Thumbprint Imperial saison was a brett saison wasnt it? Or was it the other saison that dan sent out in 6pk format? Pretty sure that one of the saisons was brewed with brett a few years ago and it wasnt very popular. I would like to see dan brew fruited saisons and brett saisons as R&D beers.

 

So for Saturday, its probably gonna be fine to get there at 9 or 10, I assume.
