NJ finally got 12 packs of Lagunitas IPA. I know where to find bottling date on neck of
bottle but the twelve packs are sealed. I did see a "264" on outside of box but didn't see a "5" for the year . Can anyone explain how Lagunitas dates their 12 packs? I rarely see fresh Lagunitas IPA in
    S. NJ so 264 (9/21) would be great.

    Thanks!

Quite often you can't tell a lot from the carton but on the bottles there will be a digital looking stamp with a Julian date code, the 3 numbers being the day of the year then a small space followed by the year. For instance 264 5 would be September 21, 2015. It can be a little difficult to see unless you tilt the bottle and let some light shine on it at an angle. Most of their stuff moves so fast that it doesn't usually have a chance to get too old. That IPA is fine enough but try and find yourself some Sumpin Sumpin, yummy. Enjoy!

Either (a) ask the retailer if you can open the box and take a look or (b) don't buy it, I'm sure you can find equal/better IPAs for the same price.

Laguntas bottling dates.....I sometimes think the joke is on me and the whole world is in on it.

I hear talks about faded markings, but EVERY bottle I check is devoid of any markings of any color.

If its there, then its intentionally hidden.

C'mon Lagunitas, you are a hophouse brewery. Make the simple fucking change @DogTown and use white or yellow ink

Any idea where to find dates on 32oz bottles of Sucks? They're sitting at my Costco but I didn't see a date.

should be on the neck like the 12 oz. bottles and bombers, my guess is they are pretty old, pretty sure they have done away with the 32oz bottles (just checked their website, it's says available in 12 oz sixers and 12packs as well as draft so I'd stay away)

It's 9/21. They don't put the year on the boxes. Same goes for Ballast Point. Their boxes will just have the day marked on there.

I have not taken the bait. I also passed on the Double Jack they were sitting on dated March 3 (as of Oct 1st). That said, I have gotten <2wk old Sculpin there...

The Lagunitas bottle dates are hard to enough to read. And lately I've been finding some that are smudged and completely illegible. Frustrating, because I love their beers, but they sit at a lot of places.

I see your in VA, which Costco is this? I haven't been to one in a while but it's usually just SA, SN, NB and BMC stuff

@stickboy1125 I'm in Richmond, specifically the Midlothian Costco. This store sells individual bombers of Allagash Curieux, Sculpin, Double Jack (sometimes fairly fresh but some gets buried), Wookey Jack, Dark Hollow, Clown Shoes Undead Party Crasher, Brooklyn Intensified, Hardywood (only the more common stuff).

They also have cases of the stuff you mentioned...

I'd rather hunt for a Lagunitas date, then have a smudged Stone or Ballast point code where the printer just shot a blob of all the same numbers on top of each other....

It's really easy to find them with Lagunitas actually. The born on dates are right at the fill line.
    Number of day of the year, year, plant, {carriage return}
It's either batch number, and time of run, or it's the other way around.

The date codes are on the 12 pack boxes.....on the top of one of the sides.

Instead of the usual cryptic, near illegible Julian code, the bottles of Born Yesterday Pale Ale I just bought say "Borned 10/26/15". Does this mean Lagunitas is finally making their bottling dates readable? That's what I'm hoping.

nope that's exclusively for the one off stuff. Julian dates (which are easy to read for me) are safe and sound
    for non leap years

Crazy. They should start doing that for all their beer.

Last few Lagunitas beers I've had didn't have any discernible code dating at all.

I get this all the time. I think they rub off very easy.
