My point? Someone compared the national availability of this beer with the local issues connected to local foodstuffs, such as milk. The comparison is not apt.

well put man, way to be open-minded. i know i would sure as shit hop on board with it if it came close to any of the microbrews being put out today. I enjoy the style but im not one to stand in line or drive a hundred miles just to get a taste. this thing would be in every liquor store in RI, yeah if its good...sign me up.

Totally agree with you. If hazy IPA's weren't the hot thing, especially on the east coast, breweries like trillium and co. would be changing the style they brew as well I think. Gotta keep with trends to keep the lights on..and like you said, don't kid yourself, at the end of the day its all about the all mighty dollar.

    CSB?

No, but you also didn't say I stand in line for great beer as an indicator of your superiority, claim SA is swill and then tell all of us we're ignorant for not agreeing with you. Which is exactly what the other guy you're defending did.

No one is telling you you shouldn't wait in line for great beer. Do whatever the hell you would like, just don't act like the rest of us are ignorant because you wait in line, again like the guy you're defending did.

Like every other BA thread, the focus here has been shifted from the beer, to the particularities of people's posts...
Is there any further info about the beer? That's what I'm here looking for.

Sam Adams makes some good beer IMO. But what do I know. I haven't reached you guys ability to drink 8% beer, much less a 10%. I will give this a try if it reaches me. Let Mr. Koch keep trying. That' what makes things interesting. Cheers

I wonder if it will have that same Sam Adams after taste or be something totally different and dry

    Couple notes here:

    1. In regards to quality/consistency, obviously BBC is miles ahead of trillium/treehouse/hf/etc, just based on years of experience.

    2. Beer is a business, and Jim is a genius...plain and simple. Research how he has set up BBC in regards to his IPO, voting seats, etc. He knows his stuff, and he knows how to sell beer. Sure, cranberry lambic sucked. Rebels are seemingly selling well. But he knows his shit.

    3. The ONLY thing he is upset about is how the craft drinkers have kind of written off BBC for being too big, no variety, not good, etc. Now he's giving us what we want -- big, hoppy, hazy, dank, juicy aromas, etc --- a la treehouse/hf/trillium. Dudes/dudettes -- he's giving us what we want!!!!

    4. In regards to copying heady topper and stuff, you could make the same argument about every brewery that makes a beer to mimic heady that has opened after the alchemist. Who cares if BBC is doing it now? Geez, long trail just came out with space juice in bombers that's pretty tasty. They came out with that to MAKE MONEY, just like BBC is doing.

    5. The whole "distributor headache" is stupid. And if they roll this out properly (which, god willing they literally have to), they'll keep this super limited, there won't be case stacks and end caps displays, and keep it limited to keep our whale hunting ways happy. Therefore no headaches. Ideally this will hit the wholesaler then go to retail immediately.

    6. Can't wait for their gose to come out next summer, then we can complain that they're copying westbrook/Anderson valley/white birch/Kent falls/etc etc.

    Lol

Agree, but when a brewery puts out a beer with the focus being drinking it fresh I'd say a 35 day window is spot on.

I rarely stand in any lines, I drink it because it tastes phenomenal to me, I'm the farthest thing from hipster. And just like you have a right to like what u like, I have the right to like what I like and not like what I don't. I also have the right to state my opinion here. If u attack or insult me for my tastes or opinions, don't be appalled when that is returned.

I believe you can get a growler of it at the JP brewery.

So if it tastes like piss but has a 10% ABV you want it ?
If it is the best tasting beer you ever had but has a <4.0 % ABV you reject it ?

    Trying to understand.

Any DIPA will naturally attract my attention since I gravitate towards that style to begin with. Fortunately, I have yet to taste something that reminds me of what you just quoted so I consider myself fortunate in that regard. All things being equal, I see a 10% DIPA and there isn't much of anything that is going to prevent me from buying it (and most likely enjoying it to some degree at least). That's just me, though.

So basically what Lord Hobo tried to do (...but has so far failed miserably).

Agree completely though. The first company to put a beer like Pseudo Sue/Heady Topper/Green/Julius in readily available 16oz cans at a fair price is going to clean up.

have you had any of Lord Hobo's stuff recently? they have come a far way since their first canning.

But I do agree that the first company that comes out with a sub $12 4/pk is going to make a killing if it tastes right

I was at a small beer fest this weekend. Overheard the Sam Adams rep talking about it. I asked when it would be released, and she said November 5th. She seemed to know what she was talking about, not just one of those part-time distributor employees who could tell you less about the beer they're pouring than 95% of the people there. May not be set in stone, but take it for what you will.

I have - it's definitely getting better (except for STC which I thought the first batch was better than the last I just had) and it's not that it's bad, it's just nothing that differentiates itself from various other "shelf" IPA's that you can get.

No matter what's in the can - it will sell. Let's hope it's a good beer! Not a huge fan of the Rebel range myself, but I'm always down to try something new from the boys at Sam.

That remains to be seen, I will reserve judgement until I have had it, but every time im told such and such a brewery makes a heady or a trillium or a treehouse style ipa they aren't even close, a tribute perhaps but not in the same league, and that isn't fan boying as there are beers by all of them I have not enjoyed as much as some widely distributed beers.
