Stopped by last night and this place is already cranking and things seem to be going pretty smoothly. Great to see the guys who were usually pouring at Morton st moved up to running the place. Its amazing to see what this place become in just a few years. From free samples all the way to full blown restaurant. I live in town and already know Ill be at this place all to often

Agreed the progression has been very cool to see from the beginning. I remember the original Morton set up with the bar against the window to the brewery. You use to be able to grab the beers yourself. Back when Hoponious was in 500ml. The first time I visited inhad my doubts there was actually a brewery down that street. Congrats JA Crew!

    The new website looks great!

Edit: Cool new labels too. I'm digging the new branding.

I absolutely hate the new labels. No big deal, but they look like completely unoriginal, where the old labels were quirky and fun.

The old labels were probably unsustainable, especially for small bottling runs. And the font was lousy--it's really hard to make a good script font that looks good out of the box. The result of these two things are labels that look like this:[IMG]

That said, I think the old logo was superior, and I think the new labels need more contrast between the artwork and the beer name text. There are also at least 3 different fonts, which makes it look a bit haphazard. It also omits the graphical logo:

I think the way to go might have been to keep the old logo, but with the new logo's font. Then smack that beautiful logo on the bottles and skip the per-beer graphics and just go with colors and a beer name. Thought I suppose you then run into issues of a mostly-green logo on a variety of per-style label colors...

Really? The old logo looked way too Irish to me. Didn't match the brewery IMO. And the labels that didn't have an illustration looked like they were done in Word with clip art - hated that ugly yellow/red box for the name. The new artworks are an improvement - but not great. They should be simplified and have more continuity - when I see 4 different ones in a row it barely looks like they're all from the same brewery. Just the beer name as the differentiation among the beers would have been how I'd do it. That said, artwork doesn't really matter - back to beer  Hope to pick up some of the sours tonight. I tried stopping in last night but couldn't find parking. Glad things are going well for them.

The main parking lot is on Bishop st, plenty of spots there.

Visited Friday night in between TH/Armsby and Boston. Nice place and dear lord there were a lot of draft options!! The ceramic tap handles were a little ill-advised (it appeared that at least two had already broken) but aside from that, seems like a fun and very social space. Very bright, too! Needed sunglasses after Armsby. Will be back.

Who cares what the labels look like. It's what's in the bottle that matters anyway.

If you are trying to get the new new and not just the people who know what's in the bottle, especially the fence sitters, the label is very important.

Popped in for an early dinner tonight, they reached capacity as soon as we were in. Found a table within mins and hunkered down for a couple hours of great beers and great food.

All in all the staff was great, a handful of kinks to work out but this should never be a destination of a quick pint a or meal ... plan on hanging out for a bit as there were so many options on tap.

Triple Dry Hopped Hoponiuos Union was outstanding. Wish it was on for growler fills.

Pizzas were spot on, I'll be back.

Agreed. My absolutely favorite non-Framinghammer beer I had today. The Simcoe and Calypso were really good too, but man, that Citra...

Earlier in the thread they said they'd rotate the 3x dry hopped HUs for fills. When I was in there today I didn't see which was on. It was Calypso last week.

Hmm, I had the 3x dry hopped with Calyptra this evening, got a 32 oz growler on the way out.

Pretty sure it was the Calypso still. Yeah, had to be... I'm sure it wasn't Simcoe, and it certainly wasn't Citra, as I have none in my glass right now.
