wow, that one took me a LONG time to figure out. perhaps my method of guessing what i see and hitting google is not the best...but i did manage to track this one down. once i figured out what the heck the picture was, it took me a REALLY long time to figure out the specifics of the significance of the image. nicely done on this one. really hard, but i'll take that point!!!

the picture is pretty specific in what it is showing. when you figure out what it is, there is no doubt of the very specific thing that the picture is showing. the general answer won't match the picture that cam provided.

Thought was going a little overboard. Good to know I didn't..

So...when you were commenting about how easy all of these images were, you admittedly didn't know any of the answers. And now you are handing out clues. Thanks!

No trouble at all so far. I love science, but honestly I think I'm just getting lucky enough that I've seen or heard of all of these things previously. I'm just waiting for the day that I'm going to get totally stumped...

Man, I'm late to this game! Missing the first three days has probably eliminated me, but hopefully I can make it up on the hard questions

I would prefer that people not hand out clues!

how is that a clue? i said it was hard and that i had a hard time tracking down the significance of the picture. that's no more of a clue than saying read the rules.

    the rules say:
either way i just won't comment on the pictures moving forward...or my methodology in guessing.

Not disqualifying you... just... explaining how you went about finding a solution IS a clue.
I'd prefer it if the answers or their difficulty weren't discussed at all but that is not realistic

Furthermore, there are certainly some people who are participating in this by relying on their own knowledge (at least, I expect this to be true), and knowing that some people are relying on internet detective work might be a bit discouraging, or likely to inspire dubious tactics. Just my $0.02

I'm expecting that internet detective work will be less effective as we move to more difficult pictures. At least, I'm hoping that's the case. There was a Jeopardy-themed LIF a while back, that turned into a how-fast-can-you-google contest.

I agree, especially since it doesn't matter who answers first (right?), I doubt google skills will be all that helpful in the later rounds.

P.S. As the winner of the aforementioned how-fast-can-you-google contest, I'd like to point out that knowing the answer was invariably the fastest method, and failing that, having appropriate websites (for the given categories) open in background tabs was at least as helpful as google-fu

fair enough. google was pretty unhelpful though...as you still have to know what to google in order to double check your hunches and guesses. sort of the way a scientist tests their hypotheses

i don't think it is unrealistic/unreasonable to ask everyone to just keep quiet about answers and their difficulty moving forward.

Exactly, we can keep quiet. For this day 4 picture, I studied it myself, saw something and then turned to Google to see what it was. It was a well-educated googling, which hopefully is within the bounds of acceptance.

Side note: I love this LIF.

    +1

Having not studied or discussed much in the realm of science in years as I am working in communications/marketing based field, I am thoroughly enjoying the daily re-education this is bringing about.
