Alpine Brewing Thread

anyone try the Handshake IPA yet they are marketing as a GF/Alpine Collab? 7% abv.

 

The most recent batch of it was damn good. I would personally seek it out.

 

Handshake is very good. I have a feeling they are going to bottle that soon too, but I haven't seen it at the GF brewery yet.

Had a GF bomber of Duet on Saturday in Capitola and it was by far the worst ive had from GF/Alpine. Probably not going to be buying anything from that brewery. Malt bomb!

 

Nice. I'll take bottles of Handshake...at a reasonable price. I don't think I've seen any mention in this thread about the collab with Hill Farmstead, Mutual Admiration. I think it was on tap at the pub last week... Anybody try it? Thoughts?

 

I tasted it from a growler that was shipped from HF. I thought it was delicious. More HF than alpine in profile tho.

 

Handshake is pretty much Shawn going to Green Flash and working with their people on a beer, right? That would be quite a bit different than taking a current beer brewed at Alpine and trying to imitate it elsewhere (by the way, what ever happened with that Minnesota deal?). I'm not surprised they came up with something yummy.

 

The first go at Handshake was kinda meh and forgettable. This second batch, yeah not sure where it was brewed but I was convinced at the Cork & Craft anniversary to give it another go. Glad I did.

 

Hoppy Birthday from GF bottle is pretty soild. A full 180 from PH. I see light on the horizon.

 

I bought 2 bottles of Nelson yesterday, 7.99 ea. Cracked one and it was pretty awful. For me, Duet and HB were far closer on mark. This Nelson was tart, watery nowhere near Alpine for my taste. Since others are saying Nelson is best of 3, I'm wondering if there are huge variations in bottles, or is it just each individuals palette?

 

Sorry for my stupidity. Or maybe it's my old age syndrome. But are they filling growlers at the "new" location (brewpub)? I know they sell bottles there. Or the old brewery location they fill growlers and still sell bottles?

 

Last time I went (which, granted, was about a month ago) they weren’t selling bottles at the brewpub anymore; I don’t know if that’s been resolved in the interim. Definitely no growler fills at the brewpub. The brewery definitely will sell you both bottles and growler fills.

 

What beer will be making its sophomore debut next week?

Chez Monieux has been released more than once before. I believe the next release will be its third (2008 and 2012 if I recall correctly).

I was definitely not serious, haha. But you are correct, I forgot about the first batch back in the day.

 

Aight. Was at alpine today. They are releasing HFS next week.

Also if you are a good boy. There will be bad ass growler fills at the end of the month. And if you've been exponentially better than good there is a bottle release (and maybe growlers) next month. And if you're really great there is something at the end of the year.
