The Zohzo is good, but the level of hops is more along the lines of... an Orval or something like that- way more subtle than the hop wallop you get from Eureka w/ Citra. It has a nice belgian-style yeast spiciness to it too. The Zhozo was great to try, but I'd rather drink Eureka w Citra all day
I think a ninja LIF box just landed here at the store about 30min ago from @sembo ... Opening now, Pr0n to follow.
Well first off, awesome box! Secondly, I've never won a LIF so boom, check that off the list... Lastly, I'll be putting together a LIF in the next couple weeks so I hope to just spread the love around! Big Boys: Sticker Fight - Steel Toe Brewing (haven't had, have had a couple of their beers before and liked a lot) Pompei - TG (always great stuff, have had once, excited to revisit a beer we rarely see this way) The Auroch's Horn aged on rhubarb - Olvade Farm and Brewery (never heard of this brewery, but sounds awesome. Not sure what year this bottle is, I assume 2015.) Fest Bier - Fair State MN (another new brewery for me, sounds tasty) Hopsmack - TG (never had, sure it is top notch!) Small boys: Unchained Batch 20 - Summit (new to me, have had a couple of their beers and really enjoyed.) PseudoSue - TG (easily the best pale ale I've had, super fresh too with 10/2/15 bottle date) Wet - Surly (has been a want for a long time and now I have 4 cans to share!) Again, awesome box and thanks for putting together the ninja LIF. Cheers!
Anyone here based in or near Chicago? I'll be there on October 30 and part of 31 and thought it might be good to raise a pint in person.
So @Eziel was the winner of my LIF, with an exact guess of 39 batches! The Olvalde is 2015. I think they are a pretty neat, under the radar brewery in MN. Doing the farmhouse thing, adding farm grown or foraged ingredients. I think Rhubarb is a fun ingredient and was well used in this one. Happy drinking!
That's a lot of brewing! Have to say I'm a little bummed there was no homebrew in there... maybe next time! Thanks again.
I have family there and work there regularly. I'll check my schedule and see if I'm there those dates.
Glad I was able to hit a few of your wants and get you a few brewery releases as well. That Grffin Claw BA Stout is one of my favorites. All the credit for the packaging goes to my brother in law @lefty17 as he packed and shipped it. Well he had the wife do most of the packaging but he supervised.
Yeah, I guess that was pretty dumb of me. I had an extra slot to fill in that 12 shipper but chose to include a duplicate of the Summit. Would have been a perfect place for a homebrew. Just finished 3 batches, Wet hop, Pumpkin Ale, and Pumpkin Milk Stout, and the Pumpkin Ale is tasting especially good.
I need to start kegging my homebrew. I haven't jumped into that yet, but I do dread bottling day...oh and the waiting to drink it!
Same here...I want to keg my homebrew. But I've been enjoying buying/trading for beer to much lately that I haven't bother to brew anything new.
I haven't made a batch in about a month, but I am enjoying drinking the brew I've received on top of drinking my Vanilla Oaked BourbonPorter I made.
Kegging it the way to go @Avelasquez80 I've done a total of maybe 20 batches and have kegged 3. Way easier. I still choose to bottle more often because I give away so much. Haven't done a batch in probably 5 months. Got lazy.
It sounds like we're going to wait a few weeks to get round 2 going. If you go back a couple pages I think you'll see it discussed with some details. Keep following along and look for something to start sooner than later!
Opened up a few beers from the LIF from @VetsPackage to watch the cubs game. Two outstanding beers. Thanks again.
