Behind the counter? 2014 BB is still on the shelf in NY.

I tried aging last year's batch and was disappointed in the results. To my tastes, it really fell off somewhere between the 3- and 6-month marks. YMMV, but I will be drinking mine fresh this year.

Maybe it's retailers trying to pass off unsold packs from last year's batch as new? Not that it really matters because this beer ages beautifully.

    I don't. Aren't differing opinions grand?

Yes, but they don't age well. They get thin.

This is funny/disturbing without the right context.

Surprising to see it this early. I usually find BB to be synonymous with Halloween, but haven't really ever seen it much earlier than that. I guess I'll to keep an eye out for an early release.

    They are!
I still have a bunch of BB with the old redneck label that are amazingly delicious.

Thought the same thing when I first saw it, but the date on the label confirms its this years batch.

Re-read my post... I agree with you. I think it loses some flavor and gets thin >6 months, but I don't fault people for preferring it with age. Palates gonna palate.

Can confirm the higher abv. Picked up a 4 pack yesterday and had one for lunch today. Enjoying the nice buzz right now

But the new ones have an old redneck on the label...

...are you talking about the banjo-playing redneck? Like 2007?

That is some crazy willpower. Well done.

Determining the final ABV after barrel aging can be tricky, unless they have a well equipped lab department and are able to run.
Wet barrels, Dry Barrels, Duration of aging all play into the final ABV.

That's true. Regardless though, as long as it's a tasty ass brew, I could care less that the ABV got kicked up a notch, especially in a BA ale where the consensus likes to drink it fresh. It'd be more beneficial for long term cellarable beers.

I think he was making a funny--referring to opinions, not the beer.

I can't yet speak to my opinion of how it ages, as last year's batch was the first I saved for an extended period. As soon as I get my hand's on this year's I'll see for myself.
