Speaking of Fat Head's, anyone try their rye barrel-aged Battle Axe? Just had a sample yesterday at lunch - smell jumped out of the glass & reminded me of BCBS, & at "just" 9.2%.

Whoa, didn't realize they put it back on. Had it at that Waffle Breakfast thingy and really liked it; rye bomb.

Me too. Meeting friends who have been wanting to try BG for some time.

Yep, and agree that it's really good.

Just was there and had a pour. Very well balanced and easy drinking. Really liked it.

Awesome - thanks. I'll try to sneak some bottles in Sam's luggage when she heads down there later this month for you.

They also need some major construction work. I posted a photo about two weeks ago. They are behind if they're still planning their "fall release". Walked by yesterday and hardly any progress. I think there is a floor sander that hasn't moved from where it was two weeks ago... I get things are expensive, and not sure if they are renovating the place alone, or if they have a contractor. But I'm about ten days short of slipping a noterized bid proposal under their door for a work exhange for beer...

As @Mike_PSU and @jeevo pointed out, I'm familiar with Crooked Tongue as its much closer for me than Pittsburgh. I brought a growler of the Sweetside DIPA to thr Gratitude bottle share-likely my favorite brew from there thus far.
Hours are limited to Friday and Saturday. But I would definitely suggest stopping by if you just so happen to find yourself anywhere near new castle--could make a brief trip over to vintage estate or chalet premier in Boardman.
His beers are generally solid to really good. Sweetside and some of his barrel-aged experiments are damn tasty. He emphasizes on ipas, dipas, and hopped up cream ales. So hops. His white stout is fun. The barrel aged ipas are legit too.

(P.s. sorry I'm late to the party on that one).

Most of their beers are generally a little lower in ABV anyway.

New (Roundabout) beer alert. Black IPA w/ Nelson going on soon. Tried some yesterday as Steve was transferring to kegs and it's awesome.

I generally agree but it didn't have much "blackness" to it. Just Nelson.

The only good black IPA I've ever had was Hop Heathan from Hoppin Frog. Had "All-Night IPA" on tap at Founders and it was cat piss with black ink I swear.

I'll probably give it a try. Don't drink much Great Lakes these days, but their Christmas Ale was one of the beers I remember seeking out when I first got onto the craft beer scene.

On a similar note, I've always wanted to try Thirsty Dog's barrel aged version of the Twelve Dogs of Christmas. I saw it at Giant Eagle last year, but the $50 bottle price was a little high for me (although it was a magnum bottle), especially during this time of the year when I tend to spend a little more. I'll probably pick it up this time around though if I see it. I'm probably in the minority here, but I've really enjoyed the BA offerings I've had from Thirsty Dog.

    Edit: Limited distribution.

I'm in the same boat as you. $29 for a four pack is pretty damn steep. In fact, all of their beers are priced pretty high.
