You are correct. This years was a day after the opening gala. Having worked the past 5 or more festivals, the Bistro is usually the easiest spot to get your Younger taste.

Because of all the Beer Week events built around Younger, I would hope they'll move the release up to coincide.

IDK, lately things have been a bit more ru$$ian river. Would certainly generate more cash to plan younger outside of sfbw and double dip with business at the pub.

I would actually love it if they didn't, for the exact same reason. It'd keep the Younger shitshows from interfering with all the other really cool beer events that week.

I've been wondering the same thing. They've announced that it's going to start on 2/5/15 this year, that there will be a 3 PtY/person limit and 3 hour limit for all parties. I have a few questions if anyone's willing to answer:

Do they tap it every day for 2 weeks? If so, I'd assume it's best to hit it on a weekday?
They say it will be tapped until they run out of "each day's allotment." Does that mean if you try to come in the late afternoon or evening, they will be out?
If I come, it will primarily be to visit my sister who lives in the Monterey area and I could likely stay for ~1 week. Is it worth driving up to the brewpub for it or is there somewhere closer to Monterey (like San Jose, for instance) that regularly gets it with less hassle?

Last year I went the second Tuesday and it was smooth. I took the day off work, drove up from SJ, was in line by 8am and got in the doors when they opened. They did the 3 pour limit on Younger, I left when my 3 hours of time was up, hung out in town a bit and got back on my way home. Left w/a bunch of take home beers and growlers and was assisted to my car. Extremely well organized; I've never had a bad experience at RR.

If I lived closer to Santa Rosa I would've gone at night as the feedback here on BA was waits later in the evening were an hour or less and it was still on late almost every night. Stay away on the weekends and go in the later part of the evening if you can. Otherwise, hit it on a weekday morning if possible and arrive at least 3 hours early. If you don't get into RR in the first wave of people, you'll likely be looking at a 3 hr wait to get in (once time limit for others is reached). There's a decent Marriott Courtyard that is easily walkable (a little less than a mile) that we also frequented, which I recommend if needed, rather than have to make the 2 hour drive home.

Last year it ran out on the second Thursday. It didn't make it the full 2 week period.

I haven't heard of a day where the kicked the kegs, but I didn't pay that much attention.

Best bet is to get there a couple hours prior to opening on a weekday other than the first friday.

Probably worth rolling the dice at like 9 or 10 on a weeknight and if that doesn't work out, hit it early the next morning.

Yes and it can be yours for only $50 a cup.

Good luck with this overrated beer. I still don't see the point of people going ape/batshit bonkers over this. I call shenanigans/nonsense. I've tried it, sure it's refreshing (as good as alpine beer) however this is not the golden pedestal of like many clamor it to be. I don't get it.

Wait, didn't it release on a Friday? Or was it Saturday?

    What?

Kidding aside I don't get flying in for it or anything but I don't really care how people get their kicks in this short cruel life. To me, if your local and strategic I see no reason to skip it. It's fun for a few pours a year. Show up early in a weekday or after dinner on a weekday. Have a few with some Pliny bites.

Each year it seems the Younger lines grow longer and longer. Avoid the first week, you'll be waiting many many hours. The best bet is to wait until Tues or Wed of the second week, go about 930am or so and as long as the line is not too far beyond the fountain than get in line because 1.5 hours is about the least amount of time you'll wait to get in, unless you have scored a wristband
