For the most part yes. You get your spot in line, then lay your tent out on the grass somewhat near your spot in line to stake your territory. Then put it up when allowed. Around 630 or 7am, the surly volunteers start blaring a horn/microphone waking everyone up and enforcing the tents to be collapsed.

Very concise and correct description... we've done an RV before they just will try to find a spot in a lot for it. If you are too late and there are no spots, off to caribou you go (which is a hike).

I would probably Like it if that were the forecast. Too bad I have to work all day Saturday, or else I'd be there.

Given the choice of rain or 115 degrees F, I'd take hellfire every time. This after having stood in the rain for Dark Lord Day this year, all day. That was no fun at all and they had huge tents set up for the bottle share.

Despite the website update, Still no update on the purchasing of darkness vs BA darkness? Wonder if and when we'll hear something on that front

Don't bring 4 cases of Exile...or anything for that matter, that's too much beer. Unless you have a trade lined up or are doing a mass giveaway. I'd just bring a couple 515 IPA's and a few other things and you'll be fine. Keep it simple, especially for your first DD!

I am very interested in everyone's opinion on this! I have been going to Darkness day about every other year now and I am either getting in line the morning of or partying all night and it has always been pretty chill until the announcement that wristbands are about to be handed out, to start to form a line. Are you (general public) really having a fit about who got there at what time?

My feeling is when the loud speaker hits, it's time to get your shit together and line up.

Basically my thought is who shows up Friday is obviously there for Darkness and partying.

Am I way off.... Hope I'm not reliving 9th grade?

I am one who has had it and enjoys it every year one way or another, but really enjoys the night before! Are you guys enjoying the party or the fact you are about to get something your buddy does not have?

Not trying to start anything, but some of the thoughts on here lead me the other way.

This has been my exact belief the whole time. As far as i can tell the time to line up for Darkness is random every year. In 2012 I recall the time to line up at like at like 6am. 2013 and 2014 had later times. I want to say like 7am and 730am. So those who randomly show up at the right time and get a wristband that is fine. For those like myself who camp out over night just pay attention to when they make the announcement to line up. If you pass out and sleep through the announcement that is your fault. If you get too drunk and pass out and miss the announcement that is also your fault. I have never had a problem getting a wristband for all 3 years I have attended. Line up when they tell you to and you will get a wristband.

I had to go to the bathroom when they were passing out wristbands a few years back, and I raced back to my spot in line, after visiting the porta-potty, and I still got 'em!

To paraphrase what was said above...

Take your tent down when the sun comes up and when they say get in line, get in line. It goes a lot faster when you listen to them and possibly Omar/Todd will drop a keg of CacaoBender in front of you.

Never been to Darkness Day, so excuse my ignorance. I won't be able to make it the night before or the morning of, but might be able to make it there around the time they release the leftover bottles for purchase. Do they ever run out of Darkness on draft at the event? Even if I can't buy any bottles, I just want to have a few glasses of the stuff, and I'm just curious if there's any reason to get to the event earlier rather than later. Thanks!
