Stopped by GE Shadyside yesterday and got an Oak Aged St. Bernardus 12 Abt and I couldn't be happier. Love the base beer so I am really excited to see what the oak aging does to it.

Where's GE pricing it? A certain place I know has a nutty price on it.

That's 20% lower than I saw it priced, but still above my ceiling.

I second this. Loved both Crasher in the Rye and the first incarnation of Billionaire. Bought two bottles of the Pierre Ferrand version but I've not opened one yet.

WWMFPBAD? (What would my fellow Pittsburgh Beer Advocate's do?)

Sent a big package in a part of a trade, and was to receive Cigar City's Good Gourd Almighty, but instead got the regular Good Gourd. The guy I traded with did not know there was a difference. What should I do here? I dislike pumpkin beers, but after loving Caution! I was looking forward to trying the rum barrel aged Good Gourd Almighty next to it. Unfortunately, the Good Gourd Almighty was a big part of the trade for me and now I have a regular ole pumpkin ale. :slight_frown:

Let it slide? Can't really think of any other ideas outside of asking him to send something else, even though I don't even know what he has. And shipping the Good Gourd back would be a waste of $.

New trader or are there a lot of trades under their belt? Was the beer name spelled out or abbreviated? Was this person from FL (near Cigar City)?

Tough to tell without seeing the conversation (I am not asking for it), but at face value he didn't complete his end of the trade and should have to do something to make it up.

Not a new trader and the phrase "Gourd Gourd Almighty" was used every single time (5 times) to describe the beer in the conversation when the trade was being discussed.

Don't even know how to go about asking for something else or what would even be fair here. Would feel bad making him ship a 2nd time too. Hmmm.

I would first clarify if he actually has the beer you're looking for or not. If not, then I would explain that you obviously don't have any desire to be a dick, but that beer was the reason you did the deal and you'd like to work out something that satisfies both of you.

Yeah, I guess I'll see if he has anything else he might want to trade or something. And he does not have the Good Gourd Almighty. Stuff happens. It's hard trying to keep up with all of the beers these days.

Thanks for checking! We brunch there and I will look for it, as it sounds delicious.

JW Lee Harvest Ales (and iterations) are legit.

Point out the mistake and see what his response is. A stand up person would do another trade and make up for it in the next go round.
