Hardywood Trickery limit last year when I was there was 4 bottles. As far as Double Mexican Radio, I really enjoy the beer and might swing by to pick some up (depending on how I'm feeling the morning after Halloween).

I think as recently as last year you wouldn't have trouble getting a 4-pack within a week of the release. And on the shelves. I love the stuff but can't see leaving work and chasing it down to get 2 bottles. Have to hope I stumble into it somewhere I guess. Or maybe a second round of cases.

I could have sworn I just went out and picked up two 4-packs at Total Wine last year, with no stated limits. This is a good beer, but it's not one I plan on going out of my way to hunt down, especially since I still have two or three from last year. I wonder why it's so limited here this year.

Don't use Norm's as the barometer of beer availability.

Someone else posted that Schneiders also was limited to one case and that they heard most shops are getting similar allocations.

I called TW in McLean yesterday when I got off work because I got an e-mail saying it was in stock. By the time I called, it was sold out. Dude on the phone was super friendly and also mentioned they only got one case so it was gone within a couple of hours.

Norm's may or may not be a good barometer in this case. Does anyone else know of a location in NOVA that received a larger shipment/still has availability?

I would also like to know how to get on the TW mailing list. I joined their rewards program and already achieved one of the status levels, but their emails only notify me of mass market beers (I think the last one told me about Guinness; thanks a pant load, TW).

You can go to the totalwine - dot - com website and click on the box in lower right corner that says "Join our email list."

K-1 also said they only got one case of Backwoods so far. I know they definitely had more last year, and I think I was able to get it a day or two after it landed there. Hopefully more will be shipped

The Whole Foods in Old Town looked like it had received at least two cases, and had 4 packs priced at $12.99, no limit.

No limits is one of the drawbacks of WF, they consistently get in decent beer but you just have to be there at the right time to get it.

I believe this thread should be renamed "Notable releases in NOVA/MD," as 75% of the posts are about sightings in those areas. There's a new thread where DC residents can have a concise list of beer releases in the District.

I'm pretty sure that's the email list that sends out unhelpful nuggets like the "We sell Guinness" one I mocked above, not the one that notifies people when limited releases like Backwoods Bastard hit stores.

That's correct. To get the e-mails about specific products, you need to select your preferred store and then search/browse for some beers. Some of the beers that are not in stock (but not all, and I don't know what the cause of this is) will have a button next to them that says "E-mail me when available." This is how I got the e-mail about the BB. It's not a foolproof system though. I have yet to receive my e-mail saying Expedition Stout is in stock despite the fact that McLean had about 12 cases of it when I was there earlier.

I'd line up no later than 8am if you want to make sure you get your bottles.
