This is my thinking. Hearing conflicting reports about how much was made. Trust @raveskdr opinion, but I also talked with Ben from Hardywood in May and he said there was more (and would hit very limited distro), but not a significant amount more than last year. That said, I'll be at the release regardless, but am expecting 2 per, rather than 4.

Going to be in the area for the release. How long do you guys anticipate these lasting

It lasted all of 55 minutes last year, I believe. Smaller bottle count and people went through many multiple times. I know some people are going to show up early, like 9am or before, I just don't think it's neccessary. I was first in line last year at 12:45. That isn't happening this year, but I also believe anyone who shows up then will still be able to snag bottles, though they may be waiting for a bit.

I am going to play the riskier approach to get bottles since standing/sitting around in a line for 3+ hours is not my idea of how to spend a Sat morning. My hope it HWP will have a swift line moving once they open up at 2 and the majority of that line will be non-existent by 3pm along with having good stock left. Show up, walk right up, grab a couple bottles. if successful then great but if not, no worries. I did not attend the Foolery or Ruse release but I think I saw posts of people being able to go back through the line a 2nd time a couple hours after release since there was not a huge line presence at that point. Wish me luck!

I was thinking of shooting for 12:30, 1:00 or so but won't make a final decision until I get some weather intel. If it's going to be like today next Saturday, than there may very well be one terrific crowd. Cold and rainy on the other hand......

Cold & rainy would not necessarily be a bad thing for those of us who are not standing in a line all morning and are fairly local. I may even root for it. HA! I doubt they would reschedule the release (a la LCCB).

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. I have raingear and don't plan on being there for hours either way. Given their GBS schedule (if BA GBS is a week after GBS), I don't see a logical way to reschedule and maintain buzz for each beer independent of each other, especially if they want "Trickery" to develop a Halloween mystique. Viva la rainfall, where only the strong and hearty deserve such an elixir befitting dedicated throngs.

By the way - that 4th anniversary beer looks tasty -

"..... Four years, 1,425 glorious batches of beer. Each one brewed with soul. What better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than the creation of a big, bold, juicy imperial IPA bursting with a bright, tropical bouquet from an artful melange of four of the worlds most sought after hop varietals.... "

Too bad I've got to go to PW for a hockey game on the 24th or I'd be in line for that one as well.

My guess is between $17-$20 a bottle. I'll more than likely be hitting Isley for their Boozy Mother bottle release prior to hitting Hardywood. It's also a fantastic beer that is literally getting no hype, and beeing overshadowed by Trickery.

That's also partly my plan and why I hope to catch Trickery later in the day. Along with the other releases going on Saturday I am going to try to hit a couple bottle shops to snag some stuff that does not get distro'd my way.

While we are throwing random guesses out, I will say 4pp $17 a bottle and runs out by 4:30 pm.

I am iso, but not really sure what these trade for. I used the search tab but it wasnt much help. If anyone gets an extra bottle let me know.
    Thanks

Good luck! It's been trading for crazy stuff on local trade pages here in VA. Fortunately, this year's batch sounds to be much larger than last year so it may dilute value a little so to make it more realistic for those who do not have heavy hitters.

Yeah I'm not sure if they made more, to be honest. They could just end up selling a bit less at the brewery and putting a bit into distribution as a thank you to big time Hardywood accounts. Either way. Want to slam some cold ones? I'm bringing Kenny Lagers with me.

I texted Kenny last night, we will be delving into a few BA Cakes after the release at my place, so you should join. And I just recently received some different information, basically echoing what you heard. Trickery gonna be flowing.

This was the one I missed last year, thinking that it was going to be mediocre (not that they make mediocre stouts) and rolled the dice. I crapped out! I won't miss it this year...

    I'll see you guys there!

There has to be some release fatigue at some point. 4th anniversary release 10/24, Trickery 10/31, GBS 11/7, Rum and Bourbon GBS barrel release later in November. I would hope people aren't going to spend every Saturday morning at HW for the beer of the week.

The beer nerds of Richmond are a special breed, indeed. They live for this stuff and party like none other - they could have a release every weekend of the year and I don't think the folks down there would tire out. I guess that's why the scene is absolutely exploding down there. Fun to see!

I think the fact that there will be 100+ person line for the GBS release the day before it hits every store in town pretty much says all you need to know.
