Did they make less of this year's version? My area doesn't get Deschutes distro, but if I drive up to northern VA I can get it. The shop I usually go to when I'm in that part of the state just got another shipment of XXVI, but when I asked about XXVII they said they only got one case, and I had obviously missed it. I've bought several bottles XXVI throughout the past year and could have bought a ton more. Why such a shortage of XXVII? Is there more coming?
Seeing the same thing in Michigan. Several stores still have XXVI on the shelves. About a month ago XXVII showed up, was gone in about 2 days, and I haven't seen it since.
wasn't there earlier thread(s) indicating there was an issue + there was uncertainty whether any would be bottled at all? i don't remember the whole story off the top of my head but i don't think XXVII was released at the usual time/week it had been - due to whatever the issue is/was. if those previous accounts were accurate, it seems logical the yields would be lower this time around. no? EDIT : http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/no-deschutes-black-butte-xxvii.309368/#post-3826381
Tons in the stores here. I can still get Jubel... shelf turd. Edit.... Love Deschutes but price point is a bitter pill to swallow.
Can still get XXVI, mirror mirror, stoic, jubel I MI. Abyss is long gone, but even that sat around for a month ish.
lol Jubel isn't even at it's prime until Jan '16 and only bottled every 5 years as of now, agree on the price point
wine shop here has it overpriced at $19, they got 5 cases and only one and a half are left so it's selling but we have terrible distribution and variety here in Billings, will see if they get more and ask about volume compared to last year, bought a bottle of XXVI a couple months ago in Bozeman so that one did sit around at least part of MT for over a year
prices seem to vary widely. fwiw, i saw a floor stack of at least 8 cases of XXVI @ theTW in Reno (mid June) - $12.99 ea. ~ same price as most Deschute's limited releases i've seen at Costcos around here:
Funny thing is that I've never been to Dominion and I always go to Norm's in Vienna, that I just learned is 5 miles from Dominion. I'll have to check out both next time.
Ha! And I knew not of Norm's. If it's just 5 miles from Dominion, it seems like I'll need to put it on the beer route.
