Hey Guys and Gals, could I get some recommendations for the Fort Myers area. I'll be there visiting my brother from Thursday to Sunday from Los Angeles. The Fort Myers Brewing Co. reviews aren't looking too hot, Port Ybel looks interesting. My brother isn't into beer like I am,so sadly I don't see a car trip to Cycle, Funky Buddah or CCB. Thanks for any input.
Do a search in this forum on Fort Myers and you'll find several fairly recent strings that will point you in the right direction. Like this and this. The good news is that CCB and Funky Buddha core stuff isn't too hard to find these days. Cheers!
Personally I think Fort Myers Brewery is much better than Point Ybel. As for bottle shops Total Wine will be your best bet.
Depending on your arrival time on Thursday, you can head to Fort Myers Brewing Co. as they have multiple food trucks all day to go along with their beers. The tap list rotates, so hard to predict what they'll offer, but usually a fair roundup. Point Ybel is hosting a ticketed concert Saturday night, so plan to visit there Friday or midday Saturday. Stillwater Grille and World of Beer are your best restaurant-style beer bets in Fort Myers itself. The WoB usually has a pretty decent tap list, at least the times I've been there.
Hi all. Just checking to see if there are any recommendations in the ft Myers area for the next 10 days? I'm familiar with the normal brewery and beer recommendations from these threads but just wondering if there's anything unique going on that I might not have heard about coming up? Thanks!! Dave
There's a great bottle shop/bar that opened up in Cape Coral a couple months ago. May not have been mentioned on here yet. It's called No. 3 Craft Beer Bar and I believe is the only place in the area filling growlers that isn't a brewery. Great selection and much nicer than shopping at ABC or Total Wine chain stores.
I second No.3 Craft beers. They are doing a Sierra Nevada spotlight on Thursday. I believe Stillwater Grille will fill growlers as well. There is a really new brewery in Cape Coral that is creatively named. ..Cape Coral Brewing Company. Haven't been there but I've heard some ok things (don't hold me to it though)
No.3 is a cool little shop guys, thanks for the recommendation. I put together a great random 6pk with the help of a great guy working there (didn't catch his name) but was shocked at how little was available from Florida brewers! I'm going to hit Point Ybel at some point while I'm here and hoping to find a few more things from Funky Budda at least. Does Cycle Brewing get distributed at all around here?
Cycle gets distributed down there, but kegs only. The only available stuff you should find from FB right now are the two regulars Hop Gun and Floridean, and maybe the seasonal Sweet Potato Casserole.
I did grab a hop gun to try so excited for that. Saw the Floridian on tap on Sanibel but it had kicked so I will watch for that. Thanks again for all the great info. Anything a "must try" at Point Ybel or does if change so often there's no way to know?
Visiting the area starting Sunday. Is there a difference in quality/selection between Total Wine Naples or Ft. Myers? Seems like if there is a single stop I should make on a short trip from Chicago that seems to be it. Would really appreciate any input.
I've been to both and they're distro is basically the same. I find that things will occasionally sell slower at the Naples TW but I'm also not a regular visitor to Naples.
