I was all fired up for this until I tried it last year. Almost drain poured it. Happy for everyone else though.

It was laminated and prominently on display along with info on all their other beers. If they weren't supposed to be showing it to their retail accounts I doubt they would have gone to the trouble to make it look so nice, and if they expected retailers to keep it secret they certainly didn't mention it during the event.

 

Can anyone attest to how this ages? My 9 bottles only lasted a few months.

 

well it's a milk stout so it's really not intended for aging, regardless of the original batch being about 8%. If the new release is around 6% it is even less poised for cellaring.

 

I think it's still 8.1%

 

I am really interested to try this. I've seen a few stouts that sound familiar to Mexican Cake, and if I can get something similar on a regular basis I will be very happy.

 

I have three or four left so I'll probably open another soon. The last one I drank was about two months ago and tasting awesome still.

I'm even happier because I prefer Xoco to Cake in every way - taste, price, availability.

Yes! Sixers! I still have a bottle of Xoco left, which I may open soon knowing it's coming back.

 

If that is true, i really really hope Michigan gets it a bit later (which i can almost guess we will...) I will be in the woods that pretty much entire time hunting. Please don't let this happen while I am gone...

Sorry if this was answered already, but will the 6 packs be regular distribution? I was stoked for this year's release, but then found out it was CA only and I'm one of the ones that missed out on the original too. With all the good things I've heard I'd love to try this out, even it it won't be identical to the original release.

 

I just opened one of mine this past weekend and it was as good as it was the first day it was available.
