    Have they confirmed it's Simcoe?

This tastes/smells straight Nelson Sauvin to me. Way too much white grape to be Simcoe IMO. I get ZERO pine/grassy/dank

Also, Surly Wet says on the label it varies the use of hops each year. This really should mean it's a different beer every year, considering Trillium gets a new beer for every variation of dry hop, I'd suggest Surly Wet should have vintages (years) associated with each batch and ratings should vary.

Yes, Surly confirmed it was all simcoe this year.

Well, there's a first time for everything. I'll rephrase my quote then -- This has more white grape than any Nelson Sauvin beer I've ever had.

I had my friend try the last of my four pack after having the first three - and being extremely disappointed with the lager qualities, with lots of floaties. He said it was way off, too. We went out and had Wet on tap that night, and it was actually what an IPA should taste like, nothing like what my four pack of cans tasted like. They must have had some issue or screw up at the brewery. My cans were dated 9/29/2015.

My friend actually had to drain pour it.

i don't know as i've seen anyone else posting about freshness issues/ it breaking down that fast. maybe someone smarter than me can chime in here.

i didn't love the beer, but i certainly didn't experience anything like that.

I felt the same way about my 4-pack.

I absolutely love Surly beers, especially their IPA's. Furious is in my Top 5, and Overrated and TtAM are not far behind.

Admittedly I am a relative novice when it comes to this style, but I have a hard time believing what I'm tasting in my 4-pack is the desired result. To me it tastes like a 90/10 mix of Heineken and white grape juice. Very little hop bitterness. Still drank it - maybe just isn't my style or my palette doesn't favor Simcoe.

Exactly the crap I tasted in my four pack. What was the date on your cans?

No one ever "has" to drain pour something. Its a part of the BA/beer geek community that I can't stand.

On the note of the actual beer, I have one more 4 pack left, will have to do some QC tonight.

When something tastes that bad, one can send it down the drain. Think about Heineken with white grape juice. Doesn't please my stomach, much.

Of course not, nobody "has" to drain pour something. I "wanted" to.

    Can, sure. Have to? No.

    But to each their own.

I took my dad to the brewery last night and he ordered a Wet and was digging it. Pretty sure it was his first ever wet hop beer. Also split a 4 oz. pour of Darkness, which was fun to watch him sip on. Needless to say, he's never had a beer like that before but seems like he's a fan.

It was a mistake made by Surly. That's why it went down the drain. I don't know what they put inside the cans I had, but it wasn't Wet or even an IPA. I am sorry you haven't gotten the mistake that I purchased, but it was horrible. So yes, I do know what I'm saying.

Is that the only size format they offer? Do you recall the pricing? Just hoping one can still grab a 10oz pour for the normal $5 price tag.

My experience with WET seems somewhat relevant. My first WET this year immediately followed a TG Hopsmack. The WET smelled and tasted like a basic lager. Just very little going on. Two days later I revisited, tasting it by itself. Still very little aroma, but the resiny hop flavor was quite strong. Same beer, but two wildly different experiences.

I doubt that's what people are complaining about in here, but the disparity was so pronounced that I wanted to share nonetheless.

Maybe they mixed Wet and Hell in order to produce more cans

you're perhaps missing my sarcasm throughout. we don't speak ill of surly around here, and you drink it even if it's underwhelming or downright terrible. flat todd was perfection, wet was supposed to taste like that, and the next one will be even better.
