This is exactly what HW has been doing for a while now. Take a look at their past events and you notice a new bottle being released what seems like every 1-3 weeks. They really ramp it up in Fall/Winter with releases almost every weekend. That MBA and marketing prowess they have does pay off. Recently LCCB has started to do the exact same thing with releases nearly every weekend.

I hope they announce a bottle limit before release day. I've heard that they may wait until the day of sale and adjust the limits based on the line out front. I hope this isn't true because I'd hate to roll up, get in line and then be told at 1:45 that the limit is 1pp.

I would rather they do it that way. Better to get one bottle then get shut out.

I never seem to get why people are demanding to know limits so far in advance. I think the very first comment someone made on their fb page when the event was announced was "limits?" As long as they announce it by Friday it's not a big deal. Just go in with the thought the minimum is 1. The max will be 4 but realistically it is likely to be no more than 2pp. Chances are they will not wait until Friday and the answer will be provided when their weekly newsletter email goes out. Just be happy to get at least one and not complain when they are not allowing more than you really need for yourself.

Personally, I enjoy knowing limits so I can fully decide to make the trip or not. I really like Trickery and most Hardywood releases and part of it is that they typically announce limits before I head up. The reason I didn't attend Ruse or Foolery was because of the 1pp bottle limit.

Its hard to justify spending 3.5 hours driving each way for a single bottle of beer, no matter how awesome the brewery or the area around it is.

Fully agree on that. I'm only an hour away so don't have an issue with the lower bottle limits. I also would not drive to NC or NOVA for a release that would only yield me a beer with a 1-2pp limit. While that may suck if it's a highly anticipated beer but I understand if I want it then that's a decision I would have to make. I think those lower limits also keep more of the product in the hands of locals since many who would travel from a considerable distance probably would hesitate to make the trip for a 1 or 2 bottle limit. It also keeps people from getting greedy and buy more than they will actual enjoy themselves. If it's 1pp then I doubt I would make the trip myself. Either way, someone is going to complain about something regardless of the decisions made. As long as they do announce a limit by Friday then people have time to make or change plans.

I normally don't care what the actual limit is: if it's 1 or 4 that's fine, I'll adjust my plans around that info. Just don't let people think it's gonna be 3-4 and then look out the door 15 minutes prior to opening and say it's down to 1 to accommodate the crowd size.

And actually the only reason I'd like to know this one is because I'm entertaining the thought of going to Olde Hickory for their dual bottle release. And I already know I can get 18 bottles there.

More than likely I will be at the Olde Hickory Release as well. I was entertaining the idea of hitting Hardywood on Saturday, making a day out of it, and coming back to Olde Hickory on Sunday and get left overs, but damn does that Calico Jack sound tasty and a much easier day.

There are, for sure, plenty of people who want to know simply so they can decide whether a release will be worth their time, money, aggravation, etc. Completey get that.

Call me cynical, perhaps, but there is also a large contingency of the competitive-trading set who use such information in their decision-making calculus: "Is it worth going at all?" "If so, how many friend-mules should I bring?" "If I don't go, I wanna be be able to cite chapter and verse -- 'You can't seriously think I'm giving up ThisBeer for ThatBeer when I know ThatBeer had a run of x bottles and there was a y-per-person bottle limit' -- when making a trade."

And those will be the ones who flame me up here: "I just want to know if I can get some extras for friends who can't make it ..."

Man, you are quick! I was just about to post. HA! Those of you who are traders can rejoice and bring your mules.

With that limit they must have quite the supply. I wonder what the final bottle count is.

This means virtually no trade value. These aren't' the beers you are looking for. You can go about your business. Move along.

We'll see if my Jedi mind trick worked come Saturday if the line isn't a bitch.....

I predict that sometime Saturday afternoon there will be a post on here that says "it is not as good as last years" which will lower the trade value even more.

I agree. It'll be on here within an hour of the release and I so hope it isn't true because Trickery is hands down HWs best beer to date. I want that beer to be BETTER than it was last year.

For the up in supply this year, it's just as tasty as last years, albeit a tad boozy. Reminded me a lot of bourbon county in mouthfeel, and in taste to a lesser extent. People will be pleasantly surprised. It definitely didn't take a tumble like the second and third batchers of GBS.

Saw they also set a pre-release on GBS for Nov 6th as well. 1 case limit. Definitely not going to be a shortage of the either
