I don't like the price increase any more than anyone else, but most of us just paid .80/oz for a lot of Darkness and that's not even barrel-aged. .60/oz is definitely not the worst deal in the world for a world-class BA stout. ($3.50/oz for Rare is another story.). I'm more upset about the format change. I love being able to have a 12oz BA beer myself or split with the wife, whenever the mood strikes me. Larger formats require more commitment and planning. I hate commitment and planning.

Again, it's not the fact that the price went up (well it is kind of) that bothers me... It's how they are telling people it is the same cost/ounce.

BCS has always been my favorite shelf stout (not so much anymore) and I have always enjoyed getting a 4 pack for 20ish dollars that I could enjoy on 4 separate occasions. I obviously don't like the change in format for the bottles.

Last year the suggested price was $23.99, right? Most places I bought a 4-pack were $25.99 (in Chicago) but I did get one 4-pack in the twin cities for $23.99. So it went from .50/oz to .59/oz, or an 18% markup. The chicago price of $25.99 equates to .54/oz, or a 9% increase.

I could have sworn I found it for $20 a four pack at places. I know it wasn't more than $22. Either way, the new format sucks and the there is a substantial price increase. No sense in complaining about it since it won't do anything. I fully expect to be paying $12/bottle of regular this year.

I think I would be okay with that if I won't have to drive to four different stores to get a four pack like in years past. Gas money and time adds up.

It'll be harder to get multiple bottles at the same store this year since they aren't in 4 packs. I expect 1 bottle limit (maybe 2) at most stores.

Agreed and I think this year's will be a bargain two years from now and so on until we hit a market equilibrium.

I hope you're wrong, but I'm guessing not.

This is the other really annoying thing about the format change...I suspect you're right.

The chasing of the truck is gonna suck, but I'll be happy if I can get a couple regular and a couple variants. Also hoping that some places will be releasing some 2014 and prior BC. Saw a few places do that last year but didn't have the money to bite.

And frankly, as much as I hate them not being 4-packs anymore, you have to admit they sure look pretty.

So I recently saw a tweet saying that Rare was going to make its way into major cities as well. Can anyone shed any light on this? Also, what are the chances it comes to MN and what stores do you think might get it? F44 is my first guess.

I think they look like a godawful mashup of IBC root beer and Ola Dubh. 0/10 would not bang.

Not sure about MN but we will be seeing it in MO. Rumor is that Rare won't be as "rare" as some people thought.

If you get some up there, figure it will go to accounts that move the Goose standard lineup. Could be specialty shops, bars, grocery stores, anywhere goose is sold

Would you believe private courier? Dogs were barking like nuts, the girlfriend came in and said some guy was at the door for me. Got to the door (dogs still going nuts) and there is a guy holding a black paper gift bag. He asked if I was who he was looking for, when I said yes he had me sign his iPhone and he handed me the bag.

Publishers Clearing House runner up prize I guess. I was really hoping for the $5k a week to be honest.
