A few weeks? A case of PBR, and money left over, a few bombers of Torpedo. Assuming 2 weeks at $15 per week.

Or a slight variation combined with @utopiajane's suggestion of going cheaper on one of the 3 weekend days.

Summit Saga IPA, Winter Ale, and their Great Northern porter are very good and not too spendy.

I've been on that budget before. I would do a sixer of jai alai or a bomber and case of pbr.

Mooch of a friend that owes you a beer or ten! If that isn't a viable option grab a keg of ol mill, should last a few weeks at least. It will keep you appreciative of decent beers when your fortunes change . Good luck and cheers to your new job!

This isn't the first time ujane and I have come up with similar solutions separately.

Although, rereading original post for clarity, I fairly recently revisited Stone IPA. Not Enjoy By or Ruination or any of their other imperials, just regular IPA, and was happy to have done it. Many others have suggested Stone in general, but I might suggest that one specifically.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Lagunitas Maximus are my go to budget-minded options. Both great and economic!

$15 a week sounds like just enough to afford a pretty good variety pack (Sierra Nevada, Samuel Adams, maybe one of your local breweries?), especially if you can find them on sale. Sierra Nevada 12-packs in general would probably be a good bet, as has been mentioned numerous times already.

There's also the "Beers of Mexico" variety pack for a couple dollars less if you're in the mood for a variety of cheap Mexican lagers plus whatever oddball seasonal beer Dos Equis has right now (I think it's either an agave-infused beer or a dark "holiday spiced" beer of some sort in that pack, depending on the time of year.) I've seen Bitburger twelve-packs for something in the range of $13 lately, too. I don't know if Yuengling is available where you are or not, but all of their 12-packs are usually in the $10 range, sometimes as low as $8.99 if you can find them on sale.

If you want to go super cheap, PBR 12-packs are usually something like 8 or 9 dollars from what I've seen. That'd leave you enough money to get another whole 12-pack of something else cheap if your budget's closer to the $20 range that week, or a six-pack of something in the less-cheap range. Some stores (I know some Krogers do, and apparently there's others out there I haven't seen also) do the mixed-six-pack thing for something like $10 no matter what beers you put in it, so that might be something to consider.

$ 15-20/ week on beer? Why not handcuff me, make me swallow the key and put a plastic bag over my head. Christ, I struggle to keep it under a hundred (dollars a week). Beer is no joke. When things are tight luxuries like food and electricity must be sacrificed.

Aldi has Wernesgruner 6 packs for 6 bucks. A bit sweet, but a super tasty German Pilsner.

By "budget beer" I'm assuming macro brews. Therefore, like a previous contributor said at $20/week I would go great beers one week and sprinkle in something like some good old Old Milwaukee (Light), PBR or Narry (Light) every other. For under $20 you should be able to get 30 OML, 18-24 PBR or 24 Narrys.

If I was in this position, I'd honestly just use it as an opportunity to reset my palate. Take a break from drinking beer for a couple weeks and save up money for something I really wanted.

Then you can drink all of mine. I found it absolutely boring, the worst thing that can be said for a beer. I'd drink our local Yuengling Lager over Fat Tire any day of the week.
