I emailed Stone about a Smoked Porter issue a few weeks back and never heard anything. I randomly voiced it on the forums and Randy from Stone took it over from there and forwarded it to about everyone on the payroll lol. I then heard back instantly and even had Mitch Steele chime in on the technical reason for the problem I experienced. Not to mention I got a sweet hat and pint glass out of it.

I have also emails a handful of other smaller breweries and had mixed responses but most have been quick and informative.

I've had better luck with Facebook than I have with direct email. I had questions about a few brews and Avery and Williamsburg AleWerks both got back to me within hours.

    I've heard back from:

    Sam Adams
    New Belgium
    Stone
    Celis
    Sierra Nevada

I've been ignored multiple times by my local brewery, Four Peaks, for very very simple questions.

I contacted Jackie-O's about two infected bottles (different beers) in a row and they apparently couldn't care any less than they currently do.

I emailed Port Brewing Company at like 10:30pm on a Sunday night and received a response within minutes.

    Heard back easily from:

    Deschutes
    DogfishHead
    Founders
    Flying Dog
    Brewer's Art

    Still waiting on:

    Unibroue
    Captain Lawrenece
    Ommegang
    Okannagon

I am sure those emails went into a black hole somewhere, I was emailing with general inquiries, no complaints.

There have been several breweries that I've joined their email newsletter lists on their websites and I've never received a newsletter from them.

To take the OP's question a step further, what about getting responses from brewers on BA? Since many were likely home brewers and members of BA before they opened breweries you would think they would be more than willing to respond. I tend to contact brewers through BA as the response is usually quicker and you can often strike a good conversation. I've heard back from every brewer, usually within hours, except one. While it's definitely their choice to respond or not, it seems they would be more than happy to respond to a fellow BA.

I got a response right away from Hair of the Dog,
They did nothing about the quality issue that I was trying to address, but they did respond right away.

you are a rare exception, especially if the inquiry wasn't pure praise.

around here they apparently even refuse to answer merchants that have quality concerns. at least one popular shop that BA members have recommended for shipping fresh regional iterations has dropped HotD completely for this reason. can't say i blame the guy one bit either.

I did have some praise in my email, but also a concern, maybe that's why I got a response. I definitely felt from the tone of the email that they didn't give a shit if I was unhappy with their product. My follow up email on the other hand has so far been ignored.

No, Nantahala Brewing. In defense of it, after the response about the bottle in question. I made my way back to the brewery, and took up the offer to meet the owner. He opened a bottle, and I had a taste of it. It was better than the one I got. I wanted another to share with family, since it seemed I got a bad bottle.. Still had to pay for it, but it's whatever.

Sixpoint responded to me after a post here on BA. It was a quick few emails and an answer and the reply has kept me trying new beers from them .

    Enjoy

I saw it mentioned above also but had to send one to UNIBROUE with no response. I'm a loyal craft beer drinker of 10 plus years now and that was my first email with a negative experience. So disappointing to not get any response. I would prefer they tell me I'm full of crap than not hear anything.

I just heard back from New Belgium and was pleased with their reponse. Maybe this post helped get a reply. Yet, I feel they went above and beyond addressing my concerns.

I got a four pack of infected Weyerbacher beer once. Upon contacting them they actually mailed me a check refunding me for the beer. That was impressive.

In my experience and others' experience, Cigar City has responded to emails within hours on nearly every occasion. I guess it really just depends on the brewer. Some do a better job of internet/social media interaction than others.

I've only sent emails to Berkshire Brewing (twice), and one to Pretty Things. Both responded to me within 24 hours. None of the 3 instances were complaints or quality issues though. Just general questions.
