Ten Fidy and J.W. Lees Harvest Ale (2000), styles where you'd expect substantial viscosity. Fantome Printemps though was unexpectedly syrupy...not good for its style. Overly lemony too.

GI BCBS...It's pretty much ruined all other imperial stouts in that department for me.

Pretty Things Barbapapa is up there though. Like liquid brownie custard.

Old Engine Oil Engineer's Reserve. Like burnt crankcase oil, but much tastier.

    Ten Fidy's no slouch, though.

In the non-stout category, I'd have to say Samichlaus - I believe it should properly be labeled as a doppelsyrup.

I've tried BCBS, 70k, Founder's Breakfast/Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Old Engine Oil, Parabola, Expedition, WWS, Ten Fidy, Deth's Tar, Imperial Biscotti Break, Yeti, and a lot more... and Barrel Aged Narwhal edges them all out. Even without considering the alcohol, that stuff should not be fed to infants for the same reason as honey (I am exaggerating, but it was still very thick).

OK folks, what we have here are the funniest/most insane descriptions for thick beers on this thread (all bolds are added to highlight the good parts). My question for the candidates: are you exaggerating? I'm pretty sure there is no beer that actually pours like a milkshake/fruit smoothie/pudding, especially when the beers I too have tried are described like 'chocolate syrup' and I thought they were merely 'a little thick'. I want to know if these beers were literally as thick as you described them- and I'm especially looking at the people who already used the term 'literally'.

Hey there, Mr. Literal. Of course there is hyperbole thrown in for effect.

Actually, I almost feel like a hypocrite taking your question seriously! haha
