Yup had a Sixpoint Sensi pretty good.

There's just been this trend I've noticed with over ridiculous juiced (many which are turbid) hop brews that taste more like breakfast OJ than actual beer. THat's all I was saying.

I can't drink coffee anymore due to my acid reflux (not supposed to be drinking beer either but im only mortal) so I need to get my coffee fix in beers!

I'm not shittihg on the juicy IPA craze I just find it ridiculous when people say an IPA isnt good because they didnt get any juicy flavors from it. Not all IPAs need to taste like fruit punch.

And I hear you loud and clear.

Last evening I had a collaborative beer brewed by Friegeist (Sebastian Sauer) and 2cabecas and my local beer bar Teresa’s Next Door. The beer was ‘branded’ as Freigeist/2cabecas/Teresa's Eau De Janeiro. It is a Gose brewed with Mangos. The beer looked like Mango Juice (turbid) and tasted like Mango Juice with some tartness. I drank the one beer and I thought it was good but I had zero desire to order a second one.

I had the same thing yesterday also, with a can of Lizard King from Pipeworks... Drinkable yes and enjoyable, but there was a running theme that is getting old and played out it seemed.

The unfortunate thing is I am discovering is that many of the beers are now all starting TO TASTE THE SAME.... this is not gonna fly with me..

Lately I have been drinking more and more hoppy beers that have 'differing' flavors of dank/resin/earthy. On one hand I appreciate the effort of the breweries going into a different direction. On the other hand I do not like dank whatsoever and earthy and resin are not my particular favorite flavors.

SPOIL ALERT: stay tuned to my post in tomorrow's NBS. I have something 'interesting' to discuss.

    Cheers!

My taste buds are getting a sort of pilsner taste somewhere in Other Half's El Dorado. Perhaps this agrees with the "adjunct lager" taste of the original poster? The comparison stops there for me. While it may not be my favorite from Other Half, I can appreciate and taste the craft that goes into all their beers.

At the very least, I'm just a little disappointed at what seems like a mindless assumption that tropical/juicy flavors (and a very juice-like mouthfeel) = better IPAs. I enjoy a nice juice bomb from time to time, but, frankly, the best IPAs I've had lately have been marked by clean, even sharp bitterness and classic citrus/pine notes. I just find myself enjoying that presentation of an IPA more. The softer, juicier stuff is fine (even great!) -- and I get that probably appeals to more folks, in the way people tend to drink Frappuccinos instead of black coffee -- but, as for me, a great IPA has a certain refreshing sharpness of character that the juicy, tropical stuff can sometimes struggle to achieve, IMO.
